The rising Irish welterweight star Ian Machado Garry is on an incredibly undefeated run in MMA. He recently defeated Daniel Rodriguez via a technical knockout decision and extended his undefeated run to 12 fights in a row. UFC legend and critic Chael Sonnen appears to believe that the UFC could have the successor of Conor McGregor in their hands.
Ian Garry was the talk of the town after showcasing an impressive performance in Charlotte, North Carolina. ‘The Future’ ended the fight in the very first round after landing a powerfully accurate head kick on Rodriguez and following it up with a flurry for the referee to call the fight to a halt. His prediction of landing the kick was similar to how McGregor would predict his fights, earning the ‘Mystic Mac’ moniker. Chael Sonnen shared a little comparison between Conor McGregor and the rising Irish star Ian Garry.

After his recent performance, ‘The American Gangster’ believes that Garry is a better fighter than ‘The Notorious’. He recently posted a video on his YouTube channel and provided an explanation of his claim. Sonnen said, “It appears that Garry could be better. No disrespect, my man [McGregor].”
He respects what Conor McGregor has achieved in his entire career. But Sonnen stated that new fighters are always better than the previous ones. “The next generation is always better than the previous… People only get better, sports only get better [and] athletes only evolve.”
‘The Future’ has a better record than ‘The Notorious’
Chael Sonnen mentioned that he isn’t trying to compare the two Irishmen, but their records speak for themselves. “I am sharing it with you if you want to look at whose record is better. It’s Garry’s,” said the UFC legend. He also mentioned that Conor McGregor is in the twilight stages of his career, while Ian Garry is just getting started in the promotion.
‘The American Gangster’ also mentioned that McGregor may never get to fight for a championship in his career again. He said, “If you look at who’s going to have more fights and more shelf life and more time? It’s Garry. And if you wanna talk about who’s more likely to fight for a world championship ever again in this life? It’s Garry.” Sonnen mentioned that there isn’t one statistic that could prove that McGregor is better than ‘The Future’.
