Trump and Rogan's hug: A genuine moment or a strategic move to solidify conservative support?

Donald Trump attended his first UFC event since winning the 2024 Presidential election. The President-elect went to the UFC 309 PPV, accompanied by some of his cabinet picks, in what could only be described as a victory parade, to the thunderous applause and cheers from the UFC crowd at the Madison Square Garden in the heart of the ‘Big Apple’.

One of the most iconic moments of the whole event was Trump running into Joe Rogan and giving him a warm and spirited hug. Predictably, this moment went viral on ‘conservative’ X and had many fawning over it, including Daily Wire’s Brett Cooper, who was ecstatic at seeing Trump and Rogan’s heart-warming embrace.

“When Trump spots Joe Rogan, just watch, he’s like walking in ringside, he’s waving, greeting everybody all that. Oh and who does he spot? He sees Joe Rogan, he sees the announcers. This is like the greatest hug of all time. I would kill to know what Trump just said to Rogan,” she said on her YouTube channel.

The conservative influencer, who is known for her reaction content, had a joyous reaction to the Trump-Rogan embrace and went on to describe it in pretty hyperbolic terms.

“I mean the energy guys, like, you can feel it just coming through the screen, and also the memes that have come out of that moment specifically have just been incredible. Because Trump looks like a grandma who’s going in to squeeze a little baby’s cheeks when he sees Joe Rogan… That photo right there is just so iconic,” she added. Of course, this is well-deserved for Rogan, who threw his weight behind the 47th President-elect at a very crucial time.

Joe Rogan officially endorsed Trump for President on the eve of the 2024 elections. Not only that, but he also had Trump on his ultra-influential podcast for a very friendly interview, which helped the business mogul reach out to his strongest voter base. The podcast episode did massive numbers and was watched by a record 20 million viewers within 20 hours of the episode being uploaded to YouTube.

After all, young men were Trump’s most stringent vote bank, and Rogan’s audience is primarily made up of that precise demographic. And Rogan even got a shout-out from his best bud and UFC CEO Dana White at Trump’s post-election victory speech from Mar-a-Lago. While the President-elect has not explicitly thanked Rogan since winning the election, his feelings and gratitude for the UFC commentator were apparent at the UFC 309 event this past weekend.

However, despite becoming a darling of the conservative world recently, Rogan has insisted on a recent JRE episode post-election that “socially, I’m left on almost everything.” This quirky dynamic will be fun to watch in the coming years in Trump’s second term as President. What do you think about Joe Rogan and Donald Trump’s viral moment at UFC 309?
