UFC champion Israel Adesanya, after going back and forth with Dricus du Plessis about the African lineage, recently took a jibe at the surging contender’s supposed medical condition.

‘The Last Stylebender’, who sparked a riveting feud with ‘Stillknocks’, previously didn’t waste time calling shots at the South African fighter after he soaked in the glory of clinching back the UFC gold. The New Zealander, who flatlined his rival Alex Pereira at UFC 287, had threatened to drag du Plessis’ carcass across South Africa. These grim comments came after du Plessis refused to acknowledge Kamaru Usman and Adesanya as true representatives of Africa.

Expanding on this banter, the Middleweight champion mocked du Plessis for his medical condition that came to light in a recent post by the latter’s coach, Morne Visser. Notably, Visser claimed the #6 ranked middleweight had a restricted oxygen intake of 8% for a prolonged period. However, his claims came under strict scrutiny, especially from members of the medical community that suggested otherwise.

The refutal of Visser’s claims allowed the 33-year-old fighter to poke fun at his supposed challenger. He then took to his Twitter handle and shared a close-up shot of his face.

Further, he penned, “Lol he only on 8%. Look at my nostrils!”

Markedly, Visser became a laughingstock among fans for his outlandish claims. In addition, Dr. Brian Sutterer, a physiatrist in Rochester, Minnesota, not only dismissed Visser’s claims but also labeled them “ridiculous”.

He wrote on Twitter, “Fun fact: humans can’t survive on 8% oxygen intake. How do people come up with this ridiculous stuff?”

Visser, in his Instagram post, had suggested that du Plessis recently went through a nose surgery that he was supposed to go through three years back to ease his nasal woes.

The South African MMA pioneer admitted, “He [Dricus du Plessis] has just had a nose surgery which was supposed to happen 3 years ago. Total oxygen intake threw both his nostrils of about 8% for the last 3 years.”

Furthermore, the famed coach also had a stern statement to Adesanya as he disclosed the camp planned to snatch away the belt from him in August.
