Drew Dober has made himself an icon when it comes to knockouts. Maybe there should be no wonder that the fighter idolizes and hopes to fight Dustin Poirier. The former interim lightweight champion is leagues ahead of Dober when it comes to experience but Dober has outdone him in one interesting aspect.
Dustin Poirier has eight knockouts in the lightweight division. Dober, as of his last match has nine, which means he is now officially the fighter with the highest number of knockouts in lightweight division history. In his recent interview with Ariel Helwani, he opened up about his dream fight.
“The guy is incredible and I’m such a fan so being able to stand across the octagon from him and enjoy and living 25 minutes – because it will be a main event – it’s like that’s what I want.” said Dober. “I want to be sweaty, bloody, tired, getting punched up by Poirier and then finding my punches and creating a story with him.”
🚨| Drew Dober names Dustin Poirier as his dream fight but appreciates he is still a few wins away from a fight of that magnitude.
Dober named Jalin Turner, Paul Felder, and Dan Hooker as realistic next steps for him.

Clearly, ‘The Diamond’ has fans both inside and outside of the Octagon. The last time we saw Dustin Poirier was when he lost his fight against Justin Gaethje. Now the fighter is looking for vengeance against Gaethje in a rematch sometime next year.

Dober’s interesting ordeal during the fight
Right before Dober knocked out Glenn at Fight Night, his opponent made an illegal move. Dober was trying to get into a brilliant takedown attempt when Glenn grabbed his glove. The internet went frenzied over the moment and tossed around Glenn in many angry comments and posts.

However, that did not affect the pace of the game whatsoever. Dober still came up victorious and now, all he wants is to fight his idol. He also recognizes he doesn’t have much of a chance so soon so he could fight others before. Fighters like Dan Hooker would make perfect competition for him according to Dober. When do you think we’ll get Dober vs. Poirier? Let us know in the comments.
