The brands that have cut ties with the music producer include Adidas, Balenciaga, and JP Morgan Chase, among others. But, audio streaming service Spotify has explained why they won’t follow suit. Popular podcaster, Joe Rogan also faced a similar backlash not too long ago.

But Spotify was there too, standing with one of their biggest podcaster. However, in this case, with the music producer, the CEO of Spotify explained a takedown can’t be completely ruled out.
Spotify CEO on where he stood with Kanye West and a potential takedown
On October 25th, Spotify CEO Daniel Ek confirmed that rapper Kanye West’s music would not be removed from their library. However, if the music label associated with the 45-year-old decides to take them down, the streaming service has to comply.

The rapper who legally changed his name to Ye did not violate any of Spotify’s policies in his music. Therefore, they are safe to remain on the platform.
Ek said, “It’s really just his music, and his music doesn’t violate our policy,” and added, “It’s up to his label, if they want to take action or not.”
Ye’s label Def Jam records gets the ultimate say in this matter.
The musician had inspired many generations through his influential music. The talented artist won 21 Grammies for his contribution to the music industry. But, lately, the rapper has landed himself in a dark pit.
How Joe Rogan faced a similar threat insensitive comments
Veteran UFC commentator Joe Rogan got a similar treatment from the music platform not too long ago. When a controversial montage video of the podcaster using racially insensitive terms emerged on the internet, he was criticized by many.
Daniel Ek and Rogan came to a decision regarding the removal of a few episodes from the podcast, but not to cancel it entirely.

“Following these discussions and his own reflections, he chose to remove a number of episodes from Spotify,” Ek said.
The Spotify CEO condemned the words Rogan used. However, he felt silencing the podcaster was not a solution.
