Not too long ago, Joe Rogan faced quite a bit of trouble with the popular media house, MSNBC, as a result of which, he reportedly sued them for about $30 million. The drama even dragged in the candidate for the November 2024 American Presidential Elections, Kamala Harris, and the former democrat, Tulsi Gabbard into the mess. This seemingly took away all of Rogan’s faith from the media.
Now, the beloved UFC color commentator has provided the media with a harrowing prediction of their extinction. All the JRE host desires from the media houses is the truth, without any manipulation. And that became the base of his claim.

In episode #2195 of the Joe Rogan Experience, the 56-year-old podcaster had an explicit talk with the celebrated neuroscientist, Andrew Huberman. As the conversation proceeded, the JRE guest claimed that the public needed to identify the stuff that’s true and the portion of the news that was false. Without wasting a single moment, the UFC color commentator announced, “Well, they’re making themselves obsolete.”
Rogan believed that people should be able to have a difference of opinion. But there was one condition, and it pointed to being honest and truthful. He said, “As soon as you write something that I know is biased, and twisted, and you’ve distorted things, and taken things out of context, well, I know that you’re not in the truth game. So your opinion is nonsense. Whatever you say is horses**. I wanna talk to someone that’s trying to figure out what’s right and what’s wrong, not someone who’s trying to win. And everybody is trying to win. This is a real problem.”
The podcaster was simply against the notion of the media houses giving news that is out of context and false. But things were different in the case of a podcast. In a podcast, people are allowed to exchange ideas and be open to accepting other ideas as well. But Rogan had some issues on that front as well.
The UFC commentator continued, “You can see people do that all the time. And it’s so gross when you catch people do that on a podcast. You’re not even considering these other possibilities because you’re dismissing them without any consideration, because you just wanna achieve a goal of victory. Just wanna play checkmate. And that’s all they’re doing. And that’s why the media is gonna make themselves obsolete.”

But what exactly made Rogan so upset with the media? Let’s find out!
JRE host’s scuffle with MSNBC
On the 5th of August, news about Rogan suing MSNBC for $30M began going viral on the internet. It was because the media house deceptively edited clips from the JRE and made it look like Rogan was promoting Kamala Harris. All the podcaster had said was that he could “see” Harris potentially winning because she was going against Donald Trump. But the viral video showed Rogan saying, “She is a strong woman. She is a person who served overseas twice… she was a congresswoman for eight years. She is a person of color. She’s everything you want.”

The caption to the video read, “Joe Rogan predicts a Kamala Harris victory in November.” This was indeed something that Rogan didn’t like. Talking to Huberman about the situation, he said, “But they didn’t do it like AI; they just deceptively edited the things that I was saying, took it completely out of context.” The neuroscientist was left dumbstruck by the revelation. Thankfully, Tulsi Gabbard jumped in to defend Rogan and demanded the media house apologize to the UFC commentator.
The news garnered quite a bit of attention. Even Rogan’s stepfather lauded his decision to sue MSNBC. But what are your thoughts on Rogan’s opinion about media becoming obsolete? Let us know what you think in the comments down below.
