Colby Covington inviting outrage is nothing new. The fighter and his trash-talking persona have been famous for as long as anyone can remember. On brand with his moniker, ‘Chaos’ fueled another spark when he called out Islam Makhachev during his interview with James Lynch. Now, he’s gone and done it again.

This time, Covington has found himself in the crosshairs of Makhachev’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz. Abdelaziz is also the man behind Khabib Nurmagomedov and now he represents Makhachev amongst others. In the interview with Lynch, Covington may just have gone overboard with his trash talk.

Colby Covington is set to fight the reigning welterweight champion Leon Edwards. The title fight will go down at UFC 296 in Las Vegas to close out the year. It’s an exciting fight for many reasons, however, Covington keeps trying to oversell it with his trash talk. So it wasn’t long before he upset someone.

“You keep talking about Islam and khabib go ahead, but you talk about father last time you called the cops next time to the hospital watch your mouth talking about people’s family” tweeted Abdelaziz.

Abdelaziz is probably referring to the 2017 incident when Covington was assaulted by Fabricio Werdum in Sydney when he was out there to promote a card. Or maybe it’s the 2022 incident when Covington was socked in the face by Jorge Masvidal in Miami. It’s clear that the fighter’s foul mouth invites thrashing outside of the internet as well.

When he was with James Lynch, Covington shared terrible opinions about Khabib and Makhachev. He went on to say that “Khabib was scared of me. He didn’t want to come up to welterweight cause of me so, even his daddy knows that it’s not smart to come up to welterweight.” This is probably why Abdelaziz wasn’t pleased with ‘Chaos’. The manager has been involved with Khabib and his family for a while now and Makhachev is also a part of their family. He was probably also upset about Covington saying that Makhachev was “fighting little midgets ” in his division.

What’s the beef around the fighters?

Sometimes, it’s beef for beef’s sake. When Colby Covington talks, everyone becomes a target. ‘Chaos’ has been challenging Khabib for years now to come down to welterweight and fight him. Now that ‘The Eagle’ is gone, he’s trying to take down his teammate, Makhachev. It’s more or less the same cycle that repeats. In the meanwhile, the Californian is slated to go against Leon Edwards, the champion who has gone undefeated for eight years.

Colby has had a lot to say about Edwards too. He called him out saying how he doesn’t want to fight in his own home country. That claim may or may not have landed on any sore open wounds of ‘Rocky’ who hails from England. The fight will go down as the headline event on December 16th in Las Vegas. This will be UFC’s last pay-per-view of 2023. Are you as excited as Covington is? Let us know in the comments.
