UFC veteran Tony Ferguson is all set to take on Paddy Pimblett in the closing pay-per-view fight of the year, UFC 296. Ferguson is working extra hard to get back to winning ways. And to do the same, ‘El Cucuy’ is taking the help of the former US marine and speaker, David Goggins.

While Goggin’s training method has mostly received flak from the online community, in a recent YouTube video, Sean O’Malley shares his thoughts on Ferguson’s training plan. Most UFC fans know Goggins for his intense training schedule and his long endurance runs. While many MMA fighters believe this kind of training may not help them, O’Malley has some interesting words to share.

In his recent YouTube video, Sean O’Malley gives us an insight into the ‘El Cucuy’ training style. Ferguson has been training under Goggins for quite a while. Although Goggins is one of the most demanding men on the planet, O’Malley feels his training may not help him in the match. Instead, all those long-distance runs on the treadmill for 20 miles may hamper Ferguson.

I don’t know whether he will benefit from this training. At this point, Tony is on such a losing streak it’s hard to keep going. You need someone to strengthen your mind back to where it was when you are on this losing streak. But when it comes to how old he is and running down his body and knees. I don’t know whether this training will be helpful at this point.”

Many fighters have already ruled out the possibility of Ferguson winning the match. In fact, several claim that the UFC is using Tony Ferguson as a stepping stone to hype Paddy Pimblett by making him defeat ‘El Cucuy’

Few feel the 37-year-old is still a force to be reckoned with. With time, he has faced a dip in form and changed his fighting style. While his training schedule is under much scrutiny, we cannot neglect the fact that he is a phenomenal fighter.
