The UFC has yet another huge matchup next month. UFC 280 will feature Islam Makhachev and Charles Oliveira facing other. This happens to be one of the most important bouts in the lightweight division and, hence, even Joe Rogan is excited about it. In a recent JRE episode, he spoke about the same with guest, Will Harris.

It is difficult to speak about Makhachev without mentioning his mentor and teammate, Khabib Nurmagomedov. Hence, the commentator brought in Nurmagomedov’s thoughts and Rogan stated, “Khabib thinks Makhachev is going to going to take him out in two. You never know.”

While it is natural for the former UFC lightweight champion to root for his friend, the commentator thinks Oliveira has been underestimated a lot.

“The thing about Oliveira is, everybody looks at Oliveira at his lowest points. … Cub Swanson knocked him out, Paul Felder smashed him. All these people beat him but something happened when that dude had a kid.”

“That dude had a daughter and there’s a fire inside of him, like f***ing center of the sun. … He’s a different human, man.”

Thus, Joe Rogan sees a lot of fire and potential in the 33-8 record holder. In fact, he is on an 11 fight win streak, which includes wins against some of the biggest fighters.

Further, the podcaster discussed the Brazilian’s recent risk-taking tendency inside the Octagon. Rogan feels the fighter is ‘100% confident’. Thus, both personalities were of the opinion that Oliveira and Makhachev haven’t faced anyone like each other.

Earlier, Nurmagomedov also made statements saying that Oliveira would not show up for the fight. Similarly, Makhachev shared his plans for defeating his opponent in the third round.
