Is Khabib's humility genuine, or is he downplaying his massive influence on Umar and Islam's success?

Khabib Nurmagomedov never takes credit for his wonderful coaching and continues what his late father started. But that does not mean others won’t acknowledge it! Javier Mendez who looks into the Dagestani fight camp along with ‘The Eagle’ is always the first person to point out how amazing the Hall of Famer is. Khabib has coached most of the fighters in his camp even when he had an ongoing contract with UFC. And even Donald Trump couldn’t help but compliment him so it is clear how good of a fighter and teacher he is.

Mendez recently spoke to Helen Yee about the humble nature of the former champion and how he can perfectly coach his pupils. During an interview with Helen Yee, he clarified the ideas on what position he held in the camp and what Khabib did in the same camp. Mendez mentioned how he was like the ‘Papa Bear’ of the team while ‘The Eagle’ takes the real hard work in hand. He said, “I never go to the weigh-ins I never really go to the weight cuts. I’m kind of like the old papa bear they kind of let me do a lot of what I want. But you know Khabib is more the leader. He runs everything just like his father did. And I come in and I do my little bits here and little bit there.”

He mentioned how Khabib has been coaching the other fighters, especially Islam Makahchev, Umar Nurmagomedov, and Belal Muhammad even when he was a fighter. He is so humble that he did not even take credit for Belal Muhammad’s success.  Muhammad mentioned ‘The Eagle’ and talked about taking help from him but the latter does not want to take any credit away from Muhammad’s achievements. Even Makhachev had pointed out how level-headed Khabib was when he advised the former to win the last round even though he had won the previous three rounds against Dustin Poirier.

Nurmagomedov had helped the welterweight champ create a gameplan for the fight against Leon Edwards and he outsmarted Edwards at UFC 304. Even Dana White praised Khabib but he stayed humble all the way. ‘The Eagle’ said, “Belal trained with his coaches, he has very high-class coaches, I just helped him in small things. All credit goes to his coaches…”  in an Instagram story.  From fans to his coaches, Khabib Nurmagomedov inspires everyone.

Khabib Nurmagomedov gets the love of fans and his team alike!

There are many instances where fans and even his team have complimented Nurmagomedov. One such instance is when fans commented on his advice to Umar Nurmagomedov in Abu Dhabi. The undefeated Hall of Famer with a record of 29-0 told ‘Young Eagle’ to be strong and take the victory. He said, “You have to be strong. Go ahead and take this victory, press him..”  This is how ‘Young Eagle’ won against Cory Sandhagen. Fans complimented Khabib and said that he reminded them of Star Wars character Yoda. Even Cory Sandhagen’s supporters appreciated him and his cousin Umar.

Another instance is when Javier Mendez said that the former lightweight champ gave $1000 to each of his teammates. He had got some money for signing cards and gave that money to Mendez through Movlid Khaybulaev. He said that Khabib gave everyone a thousand dollars because he happened to make some money. Mendez also mentioned how generously Khabib gave half of what he earned to his teammates.
