Many fans expect great things from Bo Nickal in the UFC. Just four fights into his UFC career, there is already buzz about a possible fight between him and Khamzat Chimaev. Some, such as ‘Uncle’ Chael Sonnen, have even picked Nickal to win.
The former collegiate wrestling star has won all four of his fights in the UFC. His latest victory over Val Woodburn at UFC 290 came via a spectacular 38-second TKO in the first round. Speaking to Joe Rogan in the Octagon after his victory, he revealed an important factor behind his success.

Nickal credited his striking coaches, Musa Alsulaimani and Barry Robinson, for his win. “First off, big shout out to my striking coaches Musa Alsulaimani and Barry Robinson. I won’t be here without you guys. I’m so grateful to have you guys in my corner,” he told Rogan.

He would reiterate his coaches’ contribution to his victory when speaking to the media at the post-fight press conference. “To be able to do something like that as a wrestler, it means a lot to me because of those guys and how much they put into me, Musa Alsulaimani and Barry Robinson,” he said.
Due to his wrestling pedigree, fans expect Nickal to be dominant on the ground and win fights due to his superior wrestling, a la Khabib Nurmagomedov or Ben Askren. But his KO victory against Woodburn proves the 27-year-old is a threat when exchanging on his feet, too.
It seems the Colorado native and his coaching team had been hard at work honing his striking abilities, which paid off against Woodburn, and he wanted to give his coaches the credit he feels they deserve. He even went one step further to give his coaches their flowers.
