When the promotion dropped the new gear, the community anticipated more knockouts due to the fact that the gloves were potentially smaller than the old gloves, however, the reality was a bit different as UFC 302 was lackluster in terms of knockouts. This forced Dana White to question the new gloves. However, the CEO made a tough decision by going against Joe Rogan’s advice not to acquire Trevor Wittman’s gloves. And UFC 303 might have proved him right.
When the media asked Dana White about the 5 back-to-back knockouts at the event, he said, “Hey, let me tell you what happened. Me and him were looking at each other, and we were saying the same thing. When he knocked Jiri down the first time, I looked at him and said, ‘Yes, it ain’t the gloves.’ He goes, ‘I don’t think it matters what he’s wearing.’ The situation was alarming for the promotion, why you ask?
