“I knew you missed me, but I didn’t know it would be like this.” Jan Blachowicz’s post on Instagram, just days after his razor-thin loss to Carlos Ulberg, says it all. A year after his heartbreaker against Alex Pereira, the Polish powerhouse stormed back to the Octagon, determined to reclaim his spot in the win column. And by all measures, he did — or so it seemed. But victory slipped through his fingers. Was UFC London the scene of a daylight robbery? Fans think so. And Blachowicz? He’s got the final word, settling the debate once and for all in his latest statement.

Saturday was tough for the former UFC light-heavyweight champion. Despite his best efforts, Jan Blachowicz failed to secure victory against his opponent, Carlos Ulberg. However, what shocked everyone was the fact that all three judges scored the card 29-28 for the Kiwi. Many within the community believed that Blachowicz connected his punches better than Ulberg and that he should be the winner of the fight, but the reality was something completely different. The former light-heavyweight champion, in a statement, has come forward to throw some shade on the outcome of the fight.

“More controversy on the record, as it turns out the approach to significant strikes doesn’t align with the actual meaning. I’ll leave the verdict for discussion. What happened in the stands after the announcement, and what’s happening online right now, is pretty telling. I appreciate it, but the verdict is out there, and unfortunately, it will stay on my record. We keep moving forward, going for more. Your support has been huge, and I’ll remember this moment for a long time,” wrote Jan Blachowicz as he highlighted the issue of judging.

Jan Blachowicz is understandably angry about the conclusion of the fight, and he has every reason to be. With this defeat, he has now failed to get his hand raised in his last three fights, putting his career on the line. His defeat even made Joe Rogan a bit concerned about him. How? Well, the podcaster witnessed the battle live during his Fight Companion alongside his friends Gordon Ryan, Brendan Schaub, and Eddie Bravo. As Blachowicz conceded defeat, the podcaster emphasized that the road ahead for the former light heavyweight champion might be tough. “Yeah, hard, hard road for him. Yeah, sports, right? You know, I mean, two years off, not really a tune-up fight. Tough fight. No, there’s no tune-up fights.”

It is worth noting that Jan Blachowicz also believes his fight with Alex Pereira was unfairly judged, as it was too close for ‘Poatan’ to be declared the victor: “I want to remind people how tough I am because I think people forget. You know, I won against Alex Pereira. He just won (against) me (because) the referees helped him, in my opinion.” With back-to-back losing decisions from the judges (at least as per Jan Blachowicz), what’s next for him? Let’s find out.

What’s next for Jan Blachowicz after UFC London defeat?

Jan Blachowicz has yet to secure a victory since 2022. Before his defeat against Ulberg, his clash with Alex Pereira resulted in his defeat, and before that, he suffered a draw at the hands of Magomed Ankalaev. On paper, it’s time for the Polish knockout artist to contemplate retirement. However, the 42-year-old fighter is not in the mood to end his career like this, especially when he’s only really been losing to the judges.

What’s your perspective on:

Was Jan Blachowicz robbed at UFC London, or did the judges get it right this time?

Have an interesting take?

Following his defeat against the Kiwi at UFC London, the Polish fighter took to his social media handle to drop a bold Squid Game-inspired clip. He wore a jacket that had “Player 083” in a nod to his birth year. The caption of the post read, “Player 083 – still in the game. #LegendaryPolishPower Player 083 – still in the game.” He never named any specific fight that he wants, however, he has expressed his willingness to fight against Alex Pereira in a rematch.

Well, the UFC CEO Dana White will decide who he fights next, but one thing is certain, and that’s the fact that Blachowicz will have to win his next fight in order to stay relevant in the stacked light-heavyweight division.
