Conor McGregor had a surprise addition to his TUF 31 coaching team in the previous episode of the show- the great Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson. The welterweight star showed up to help with coaching duties and even had a few pleasant exchanges with McGregor. Both of them posed for pictures and shared those snaps later on social media.
To the surprise of many, the lightweight McGregor looked almost as big as the welterweight Thompson in the pictures. Now, the 40-year-old has revealed just how big Conor McGregor has gotten during his layoff and how he looks big in pictures.
‘Wonderboy’ recently came on ‘The Breakdown’ and reminisced about his time on TUF 31. The #7 ranked welterweight star also talked about Conor McGregor’s weight gain, how he sized him up, and his aura as a fighter.

McGregor is set to return against opponent coach Michael Chandler. But the date for the fight is not yet set. The former double champion is jumping into action against a top 5 lightweight without taking a tune-up fight like Joe Rogan and Mike Tyson advised him to.
‘Wonderboy’ talks about Conor McGregor and TUF 31
Speaking of ‘The Notorious’, Stephen Thompson said, “Conor McGregor, he’s big for his weight, for sure. Is he a natural 170? No. I mean, you got guys out there walking over 205-210 lbs. I know guys that cut from 230 lbs to 170. It’s just a different weight class man.”
The welterweight also mentioned how McGregor now looks much bigger than what he used to look like. Further, the Irishman knows how to make himself look bigger in pictures, says Thompson. ‘Wonderboy’ also mentioned how McGregor inched forward while posing for a picture and how it made a huge difference.
“And when I look back at the picture, I’m like, ‘Bro, he looks massive! What the heck? How did he do that?'” he said.

Further, the former title challenger added, “But, dude, the guy’s a phenom man. I mean, a mental… just giant. If you step in the room, I don’t care if you’re a lawyer, if you’re a doctor, he’s gonna size you up. Doesn’t matter if you’re a fighter or not. He is sizing you up.”

The TUF 31 stint is a prelude to McGregor’s return fight against Michael Chandler. But things are not going well for McGregor on TUF and outside it.
His team is trailing 0-4 on the show and his USADA status is a huge impediment to his comeback hopes for 2023. Reportedly, McGregor missed the deadline and won’t be eligible to compete this year.
