Seems like crossovers are the new thing! Ever since Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg decided to settle their differences in a cage fight, there have been numerous reports of other non-MMA entities, celebrities, and even actors and singers flocking into the realm of combat sports. Renowned names like Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds, actors like Tom Hardy, and even pop icon Demi Lovato have joined the world of combat sports.

The topic has been a hot pick for fans and critics alike, but the buzz doesn’t seem to fade away. With Dana White taking matters into his own hands, seems like a ‘billionaire super-fight’ is just around the corner. But what’s even more interesting is the fact that all these big names share a love for combat sports – to the extent that they’re willing to invest their efforts and time into honing their skills.

However, this trend hasn’t been without its fair share of criticism and negative opinions. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu expert Garry Tonon has spoken out against the trolls and critics who belittle these celebrities’ involvement in combat sports. What’s more – he also highlights the potential positive impact their participation can have on the sport and its future.

BJJ Star urges fans to unite against “sh*t talking” people like Mark Zuckerberg

In a recent interview, the BJJ expert voiced his frustration with the negative comments directed at celebrities who venture into combat sports. The 27-year-old kicked off his arguments, remarking, “They talk sh*t about some of these guys getting involved in Jiu-Jitsu. They’ll get a belt promotion, and everyone is talking sh*t.”

He even specifically mentioned Demi Lovato’s foray into Jiu-Jitsu, citing the backlash she received. Tonon emphasized the importance of unity and support within the combat sports community, saying, “We got a good thing going here. We got momentum. It’s going to help all these Jiu-Jitsu athletes that you love make money.”

‘The Lion Killer’ urged fans and followers to embrace and encourage these celebrities’ involvement. He highlighted that their participation can bring attention, funding, and increased success to the sport. He further added, “It’s like – ‘Man, we’re making it – and you guys are trying to ruin it.’ – Just let it be, man!

But that’s not all! He also shed light on the importance of celebrities and icons showing interest in MMA and Jiu-Jitsu. Tonon argued, “We should all be happy that these big names and these super successful people are interested.”

Furthermore, he reasoned that these entities, who possess wealth and power, have the freedom to avoid physical altercations and contact sports. But their decision to engage in combat sports speaks volumes about the value and appeal of disciplines like Jiu-Jitsu.

In the same vein, Tonon concluded, “So if that’s meaningful to these people, man, we must really have something going on. There really has to be something to this.”
