Rapper and boxer Jonathan Jamall Porter, also known as Blueface, recently endured a horrifying incident during his preparations for an upcoming boxing match on October 14. The 26-year-old was allegedly stabbed while training. Reflecting on this, a member of the combat world has shared his views about the incident.

Former MMA fighter and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) Tom DeBlass provided his insights about this matter. He shared his views on the incident and suggested ways to prevent such events in the future.

Renowned rapper Blueface(Jonathan Jamall Porter) found himself at the center of a distressing incident. On a Wednesday morning, as the 26-year-old artist was diligently training at Kaminsky Boxing Gym in Los Angeles, an unidentified stranger unexpectedly attacked them. The assailant, with apparent malicious intent, stabbed Blueface in the leg, prompting his immediate hospitalization. The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. and left the artist in recovery at a local medical facility.

The rapper took to social media to share footage of the altercation captured by surveillance cameras. His Instagram story featured this footage, accompanied by a caption that regretfully announced his withdrawal from an upcoming fight scheduled for October 14. The reason cited was the unanticipated attack by an unknown individual, which has now disrupted Blueface’s preparations for the match.

The assailant fled the premises in a black Tesla without a number plate and has yet to be identified. The individual allegedly stabbed Blueface in the leg and then left. This event comes months after the police apprehended and took Blueface into custody in June for his alleged involvement in a robbery in Las Vegas.

Prominent martial artist Tom DeBlass proposes solutions to combat training space violence

The recent stabbing incident involving Blueface has elicited a response from a prominent figure in the martial arts community. Tom DeBlass, a former MMA fighter and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) veteran, has stepped forward with a proposed solution to address this apparently growing problem. Reflecting on the incident, the veteran expressed his concern about the escalating hostility that can sometimes be observed in training spaces.

While condemning the violence that occurred at Kaminsky Boxing Gym, DeBlass stated,” People truly can be so hateful and envious. The veteran questioned the audacity of someone entering their training space, challenging them, and then stabbing them.

To address these violent behaviors exhibited by some individuals, Tom DeBlass proposed a solution, albeit a violent one. He took to his Instagram account and stated “ If anyone ever takes me up on my challenge and comes through and wants to fist fight. No problem. However, if you come in with weapons, you are gonna be lit up like the 4th of July. The only thing I will be regretful of in that case is the blood on my mats.” He recommended that we show no mercy to anyone who resorts to violence. From his words, it is clear that he is referring to firearms.

The Blueface incident calls for the urgency of addressing violence in combat sports. Tom DeBlass’s suggestion for zero tolerance towards aggression states that there is a desperate need for enhanced safety measures for athlete protection.
