Dricus Du Plessis has seemingly found inspiration in Dana White and his appearance on the ‘This Past Weekend’ podcast. The friction between Du Plessis and White arose after Du Plessis had previously declined the chance to face then-champion Israel Adesanya at UFC 293. Instead, Sean Strickland stepped up to face Adesanya, and secured a shocking victory that altered the landscape of the middleweight division!

It had seemed as if Du Plessis had been sidelined by White. But it was later announced that Khamzat Chimaev had sustained a hand injury during his fight at UFC 294. This led to ‘Stillknocks’ being given the chance to take on Strickland for the middleweight title next year. A clip recently shared on social media by Du Plessis indicates that despite the troubles he has faced with the UFC, he can still find motivation from unlikely sources!

UFC CEO Dana White had persuaded Khamzat Chimaev and Kamaru Usman to step up for the UFC 294 pay-per-view co-main event with the promise of a title shot for the winner. White affirmed this on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’, emphasizing the winner’s opportunity for a title shot, barring unforeseen circumstances. This led to Dricus Du Plessis questioning the UFC’s treatment of him, as he believed had secured his chance at the title with his recent performances.

In a recent Instagram story, Du Plessis shared a clip of Dana White talking on comedian Theo Von’s podcast where White emphasized the need to be fearless and believe in oneself.

White stated, “You have to have no fear, you have to believe in who you are, and what you do, and just go f*king get it. The thing with me is, I don’t give a f*ck. I don’t give a f*ck. Yeah, I don’t give a sh*t what anybody says, or what anybody thinks.”

He declared his indifference to others’ opinions, asserting a strong self-awareness and surrounding himself with a supportive circle. For White, “anybody who doesn’t like it or doesn’t want it, too f*king bad.” White’s words resonate with the importance of having no fear and unwavering self-confidence.

The post indicates that Du Plessis is ready to move on. And set his sights on achieving his goal of becoming the UFC middleweight champion. However, he recently expressed his thoughts on Khamzat Chimaev, who initially received preference over the South African for a title shot!

Du Plessis puts Khamzat Chimaev on notice

UFC’s Q1 2024 schedule is taking shape, with Sean Strickland facing Dricus Du Plessis in Canada at UFC 297. Despite Khamzat Chimaev discussing a middleweight title shot, Du Plessis secured the opportunity, backed by fans and pundits.

With six consecutive wins and a notable upset over Robert Whittaker at UFC 290, Du Plessis is confident about ending Strickland’s reign. Therefore, in an interview with James Lynch, Du Plessis anticipated his championship shot and discussed a potential bout with Chimaev.

Despite Chimaev’s win over Usman, Du Plessis believes the Chechen-born fighter underestimates the power difference at 185 pounds. He stated, “He’s gonna try to take me down, as he should. I don’t think he realizes the power difference between 170 and 185.”

As anticipation builds for these upcoming fights, the UFC’s early 2024 schedule promises thrilling matchups and potential shifts in the middleweight landscape.
