An emotional Tracy Cortez appeared before the media after defeating Jasmine Jasudavicius. Her emotional state was not simply because she achieved a massive win at Noche UFC. In a post-fight conference, she opened up about feeling “salty” for not being in one of the bigger fights on the card.
Cortez has been all the rage among UFC fans for a while now, for her fight skills and for being a heartthrob. Her win streak is perhaps one of the most impressive things about her and many fans think she’s worthy of contesting the title. Her thoughts about it, however, were filled with a sense of awareness.

Cortez is now on an 11-fight win streak (5-0 in the UFC) and even her weakest emotional state wasn’t enough to break her inside the Octagon. She admitted to not being completely on board with the UFC’s position but also confessed that she’s not been as consistent as others.
“I was a little salty like come on man,” she told the press. “I know I have a big fan base coming in to watch me and support me but it’s okay you know. Much respect. There’s a lot of athletes here that are consistent. I’m very accountable and I know that I haven’t been too consistent, and hopefully, you guys will see a change in that.”
The fighter secured a win by decision after the third round. She handed out over a hundred strikes to which Jasudavicius had no answer. Round after round, takedown attempts were thwarted by Cortez’s fort-like defense until ultimately she emerged the better of the two.
Cortez recently lost a person she considered her family. The death of Gloria Cejudo has given her new motivation to fuel her run for the belt. “I don’t want to just take fights to take them. I want to make a statement,” Tracy had said to UFC.com a few years ago and she remains persistent. Even in loss, she moves forward.

In the same press conference, she told reporters how she received a call that informed her of Gloria’s passing. The key figure in the 29-year-old’s life had been battling cancer for several years. Cejudo had been diagnosed with cancer back in 2021 and had been suffering since then. The disease ended up taking her life on the 15th of September. Knowing about her passing put holes in Cortez’s heart, but her career still remains spotless.
“She was a big sister and,” she spoke with a lump in her throat. “Cancer’s a nasty disease. I wanted to honor her and perform the best that I can and I want to dedicate this fight to her.”

“No matter what life throws at me, you can’t break me,” Cortez said, proud as she can be. Many fans expect her to be a champion sooner or later. The proud striker isn’t the type to shy away from a challenge and no one wants to break an 11-win streak accumulated over the years. Who will be Cortez’s next opponent and how badly will they get hurt? Only time will tell.
