Conor McGregors graph as a fighter is trending downwards. While he may be living a luxurious life with $3.6 million Lamborghini and champagne, his performances in the Octagon offer a stark contrast. Having won only one fight since his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov five years ago, he was kept out of the Octagon for two years after suffering a broken leg in his last fight against Dustin Poirier. Fans have also grown increasingly critical of the Irishman after his shenanigans over the past two years.

There is a feeling among fans that McGregor has become increasingly uninterested in fighting after he made his fortune by selling the majority stake in his whiskey brand. This version of ‘Notorious’, according to them, is far inferior to the hungry and ruthless young Conor McGregor that captivated fans and pushed him into mainstream consciousness. ‘Notorious’ clearly loves the high life, and attended the glitzy Cannes Film Festival in France, where he rubbed shoulders with cinema royalty, he also ran into Frenchman and UFC heavyweight Cyril Gane.

Sports news outlet ‘Sportskeeda’ posted an image back in May, where the pair can be seen talking amicably with each other. The picture was reportedly clicked when Gane and McGregor ran into each other at the Cannes Film Festival in France.

The Parisien is known as an amiable and friendly guy, while McGregor is famously an extrovert. It was good to see the two enjoying some downtime before they return to the Octagon. After his loss to Jon Jones in a bout for the heavyweight crown at UFC 285, the Frenchman will take on Moldovan heavyweight Sergey Spivak at UFC Fight Night at Accor Arena in Gane’s hometown of Paris on September 3. When will McGregor be fighting next, however, remains unclear.

Recently, McGregor released distressed voice notes on Twitter saying the fight would not happen in December. He said ‘they’ were keeping him from fighting. His comments led some to believe that ‘they’ probably meant the Nevada Athletic Commission while some think it was the USADA. He then took a U-turn a few days later and told fans December was back on the table.

All fighters are required to enter the USADA testing pools six months before they can fight in the UFC. The Dubliner, however, has reportedly not entered the pool yet. The UFC can exempt him from the rule. But without official word from the UFC, the date remains unclear.
