Paddy Pimblett beat up not just Michael Chandler but also Conor McGregor’s pockets at UFC 314. ‘Mystic Mac’, of course, had bet $500k on ‘Iron’ to knock out ‘The Baddy’ in their Miami PPV co-main event bout on Saturday. But the Englishman went on to put a beating of epic proportions on Chandler and won the fight via a third-round TKO. ‘Iron’ and ‘Mystic Mac’, of course, appeared as rival head coaches on season 31 of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’, where things got heated and even physical at one point between them.

As usual, the duo were expected to fight after the conclusion of the sport, and the fight was finally scheduled for June 29 last year on International Fight Week. The fight, however, never materialized and Chandler seems to have grown on the Irishman who bet a substantial amount on a KO victory for him. While Pimblett may have bloodied and battered Chandler at UFC 314, the Liverpudlian didn’t do too much damage to Conor McGregor‘s bank account, as McGregor humorously pointed out in a hilarious social media post.

“Chandler you motherfooker you! Rest up, fair play. My history with Mike and the odds on him by KO swayed me to take the risk. My head did say, Paddy. He’s improving but with a way to go yet. Although the division is woeful, it is equal, and equal brings good fights. So happy days, ya’s’r welcome. Ah well, what’s $500,000 to an M G like me, can you please remind me? More than your purse. Thanks @Duelbits, best odds in the game! I’ll get it back I’m sure. In fact, I just did. 😉😂,” a bemused McGregor wrote on X.

Of course, the Irishman is the wealthiest MMA fighter in the entire world and is a veritable business tycoon. $500k won’t be as much of a hit to him as almost anyone else on the planet. And it is good to see him laugh off the lost bet. After all, the Irishman has a knack for lashing out if something upsets him even mildly.

But it seems losing half a million dollars doesn’t bother him that much. Some fans would say that the young and hungry people’s champ Conor McGregor, whom fans loved, wouldn’t have laughed off the lost bet and bragged about his wealth, and that this X post is just another example of how high an ivory tower the Dubliner is in. But we’re not one of those fans, so we won’t. Moreover, this $500k will be a chump change when compared to what he will probably have to spend in his next venture.

Conor McGregor has two fights left on UFC contract as he prepares for Presidential runs

Now Conor McGregor wants to become the President of Ireland. In other words, ‘Mystic Mac’ is done with fighting. It has been clear to many for some time that the former UFC double champ is just too rich and loves partying too much to ever fight again. But some fans were still hoping to see him back. After all, he does have two fights left on his UFC contract won’t truly be a free man until he is signed to the promotion.

What’s your perspective on:

Did Paddy Pimblett just prove he's the real deal, or was Chandler just off his game?

Have an interesting take?

An interesting question a few people have been asking is whether the UFC would free McGregor from his contract if he were to get elected President somehow. The Head of State and Supreme Commander of the Irish Armed Forces under contract with a private company based in another country? That’s got to be some sort of conflict of interest. Dana White would have to release McGregor!

Could this all be a ploy for McGregor to get out of his UFC contract? Almost definitely not. More likely, the Irishman wanted to remain in the headlines and had to change tracks since no one was buying his claims about fighting in the UFC soon. Or maybe McGregor just wants to serve the people of the great nation of Ireland after all. What do you think about Conor McGregor’s reaction to losing a $500k bet on the Michael Chandler vs. Paddy Pimblett fight?
