Misery is piling up on UFC President Dana White. He is yet to recover from the recent blow that Elon Musk dealt him. The UFC head honcho chased the superfight between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg the whole summer. After he worked tirelessly to materialize the fight between the two business magnates, Musk ditched the UFC. As expected, the saga left both the promotion and White in agony. However, it appears the only person “happy” with the development is Conor McGregor.

The 53-year-old worked behind the scenes to work out a solution for the entities involved. Despite his disdain for gimmick fights, he was ready to step into the world of superfights again. Notably, he also played an instrumental role when ‘The Notorious’ fought Floyd Mayweather. Hence, he was confident of his matchmaking acumen, only to be left disappointed. While MMA fans were willing to shell out money for the fight in the Colosseum, McGregor didn’t think highly of the fight.

‘The Notorious’ recently turned to his X handle and expressed he felt “happy” that the UFC wasn’t involved in the superfight anymore. He wrote, “I could not be less interested in this, I am so happy the ufc will not be involved.”

This comment stands in stark contrast to the 34-year-old’s previous comments. Earlier, he had revealed he was “interested” in the fight, with one caveat. He had announced, “I’m interested… If it happens under the UFC banner, I’m with it. It has to happen under the UFC banner.”

With the UFC out of the frame, the charm of the super fight died off for the Dubliner. But on the other hand, it would leave a bad taste in White’s mouth. He believed the superfight would rack up PPV buys worth billions. “This thing does a billion dollars in revenue,” he vehemently declared. But now they are sure to miss out on collecting benefits from it.

The X owner decided to take matters into his own hands, as he recently announced, “The fight will be managed by my and Zuck’s foundations (not UFC).” He then disclosed that he was in talks with the PM of Italy and the Minister of Culture.

Providing details of the fight, he wrote, “Livestream will be on this platform and Meta. Everything in camera frame will be ancient Rome, so nothing modern at all.”

The billionaires are thus confident of fighting next at the iconic location in Italy, but without the aid of Dana White. Meanwhile, White can again turn his attention to the UFC and look forward to the upcoming PPV, UFC 292.
