Joe Rogan has argued for Chris Rock several times after the Oscar incident involving Will Smith. The longtime UFC commentator has repeatedly hyped up Rock’s comedy specials and how he found his stride after the Oscar slap. Surprisingly, Rogan has now come forward with another statement that shows he may have softened his stance against Will Smith on the issue.
Recently, Rogan hosted Hollywood actor Jon Bernthal on JRE. In episode #1916, the pair briefly discussed the Oscar slap and the parties involved. While talking to ‘The Punisher’ actor, Rogan said that Smith deserved forgiveness and stated his reasons for it.

Speaking of the incident, Rogan said that Smith deserved forgiveness, as he had deep remorse for his actions. The former ‘Fear Factor’ host added that Smith had been “living in a world where he was given nothing but adulation and praise for most of his life.” Therefore, the Oscar moment and what ensued affected him deeply.
Rogan described it as “this one, in may people’s eyes, unforgivable moment where he just does something so f***ing stupid.” However, the BJJ black belt said that Smith does realize his mistake. He continued, “He’s a human being. You just got to forgive him.”
Rogan also added that the real person to forgive Smith was Chris Rock, but the JRE host was not sure if that would happen.
In one episode, Rogan had accused Smith of losing his mind at the Oscars for slapping Rock.
When Rogan said Will Smith lost his mind
In episode #1915 of JRE, Rogan used Will Smith as an example to speak about how celebrities lose sight of reality at times. While talking to his guest Brian Simpson, Rogan said, “Not just that he lost control. He did it publicly… Everybody was mad about it.”
The BJJ black belt added, “You can tell that he had lost his mind because he was yelling ‘keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth.’”

The stand-up comedian also pointed out how the humiliation fuelled Chris Rock’s comedy resurgence. He reiterated the same thing while talking to Bernthal, too.
According to Rogan, seeing a room full of people applauding the man who has just assaulted him reminded Rock of the reasons he had started comedy and set him on his current run of form.
