Nick Diaz is back in the news, but not for the reasons fans might have expected. The Stockton native recently took to his Instagram stories to announce that he is selling autographed Strikeforce gloves. However, it is unknown whether it is due to financial difficulties or just to earn a quick buck. After all, it is worth noting that his personal life has been quite controversial for a while now.

The sale of the autographed Strikeforce comes only months after a troubling viral video and a cryptic statement from his girlfriend, Kay. The statement suggested deeper problems in the former UFC star’s life. Back in 2024, a disturbing video featuring a man who looked a lot like Nick Diaz went viral. In the clip, he could be seen trying to light something on fire while crouched behind some bushes.

While some fans believed it must have been a doppelgänger, concern grew after Diaz’s girlfriend posted a cryptic but scary statement on Instagram in November. Taking to her Instagram account, she wrote some words of motivation for the UFC fighter. “Drug addiction doesn’t last forever; you either find sobriety, or it takes your life.”

Now, months after the incident, Diaz’s recent Instagram story surely must’ve raised further speculations by fans about the fighter’s financial well-being. It is worth noting that the 41-year-old was supposed to make his much-awaited return in 2024 against Vicente Luque. The duo was first supposed to fight in August, but the comeback fight for Diaz was then rescheduled to December.

But despite the change of dates, it did not come to fruition, as the American fighter was pulled from the bout after the aforementioned clip went viral. Now, he is out there selling his gloves, as stated in the Instagram story. But what made a fighter as good as Nick Diaz spiral into the world of addiction?

Nick Diaz’s major confession gives clues

Months after the viral video and his girlfriend’s mysterious remark, a resurfaced clip finally sheds light on Nick Diaz’s mental and emotional issues that led to the major downfall of the once-feared fighter. The 41-year-old went above and beyond in trusting people who were never actually there for him, leaving him alone in the end as he now had to deal with his issues. He said, “I was busy trying to help people who were never good. I should have been trying to help myself. I don’t really have that many real friends, and I said, ”Man, I’m really in big trouble now. To be honest with you, I really don’t want to do this. But I’m always walking out to the other corner.”

He also stated that he never enjoyed fighting and often thought about why he was doing it. Despite his monumental wins and titles, Nick Diaz has always felt under-confident, fearing that if he gets into a fight, he will be beaten. To make matters worse, he said one of the most melancholic lines ever spoken by a fighter, “It’s like I’m being punished for not being a regular human being or a regular person.” Fans would now be glad to know that his Instagram stories from last month suggest that he has now gotten into rehab and is finally working on himself. But what do you think? Will 2025 be the comeback year for the fighter? Let us know in the comments.
