Choose your opponent carefully before you square up. The Miami Heat mascot learned this lesson the hard way as he had to be hospitalized after an encounter with former UFC Lightweight champion Conor McGregor, at the NBA finals held in Miami. Mascots entertain fans and spectators when the players are off the turf but it went a little too far at the NBA finals as McGregor let loose.
UFC President Dana White and Conor McGregor have shared a bond that a lot of other UFC fighters often call ‘favoritism’. McGregor has roped in quite a bit of business for the promotion through his antics and his flashy personality. That is why, at a recent press conference, White was asked about the incident and what he thought of it.

Known for his outrageously inflammable personality, Conor McGregor is not one to back down from a fight. Therefore, when the Mascot tried to square up, McGregor returned with a left hook of his own and then punched the decked mascot a second time. This was all in good humor and McGregor was jostling but little did he know, that the mascot actually sustained a few injuries and had to be hospitalized after.
When asked about this in a recent press conference, Dana White said, “I saw the Deontay Wilder one too. What’s up with mascots wanting to get punched in the face by professional fighters? What do you expect? You wanna get punched.. I mean, what are those mascot things made out of.. You know unless you’re like the Golden Knights mascot, I wouldn’t be uh.. I don’t even know what the hell he wears but I’m assuming it’s a metal helmet, I wouldn’t, uh.. I wouldn’t have professional fighters punching me in the face if I was a mascot. Doesn’t seem like the brightest thing in the world.”
UFC fighter Deontay Wilder, nicknamed The Bronze Bomber, also punched an ESPN mascot and then apologized afterward.
