The caption of this tweet read: “Great rolls today!” Within minutes, the picture went viral and drew the attention of fans. An intrigued fan questioned the ‘Diamond’ about his intentions for his next fight, asking for a possible time frame on his return to the octagon – possibly late this year or in early 2024.

The #3 Lightweight responded to the fan’s question with a short yet impactful reply. Retweeting this fan’s tweet, Poirier voiced his hopeful wish for a potential fight this year. ‘The Diamond’ wrote: “I want to fight this year”.
Moreover, ‘Diamond’ has already hinted at a weight class move to the welterweight division. Likewise, he has been offered a welterweight clash by UFC star Vicente Luque. ‘The Silent Assassin’ who is 15-5 in the UFC, wants to lock horns with Poirier and wants this clash to be the undercard fight for Conor McGregor’s December return.

In a recent interview with TMZ, Luque expressed his eagerness to battle it off against the former interim champion. Acknowledging Poirier’s stature as a significant name in the UFC, ‘The Silent Assassin’ chimed in, “If I have a name that I could point out that is not in the division, it’s Dustin Poirier, just because he is a big name. He is that exciting fight.”
