The world of mixed martial arts has taken a huge turn towards popularity. Conor McGregor created a massive uproar with the release of his Netflix documentary series, ‘McGregor Forever’. Israel Adesanya has also uplifted the MMA fans’ spirits with an announcement about his documentary. The Nigerian warrior’s documentary is set to be out by June 11, 2023. However, these two are not the only fighters whose documentaries would reach every nook and corner of the world.

Recently, Tucker Tooley Entertainment announced that they are working with the famed writer and director, Christian Gudegast, to make a movie on Royce Gracie and the birth of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The project is seemingly focused on the night when Gracie proved the value of jiu-jitsu and his debut in UFC 1. Without a doubt, the world of mixed martial arts is set for a journey to immortalize the story of Royce Gracie.

Gracie is indeed excited for the world to listen to his story. He has declared that everything he is, is because of jiu-jitsu. As reported by ‘Deadline’, he said, “I remember every detail of that night, the intensity of it was palpable but even then I did not appreciate the incredible impact that it would have and the significance that it would carry for years to come, not just for me but for the world of martial arts. Everything I am is because of jiu-jitsu and I’m excited for the world to hear my story.”

Tooley revealed that prior to Gracie’s UFC debut, the world of combat sports primarily revolved around boxing. As the world saw him dominate the arena with Gracie family’s jiu-jitsu, the UFC was born. It gave rise to a whole new genre of combat sports.

Similar to many in the world of MMA, even he was in awe of Gracie’s performance on November 12, 1993. Furthermore, he declared that he had nothing but respect for Gracie and announced all Gracies as “the Godfathers of martial arts.”
