The feud between iPhone users and Android users is as real as it gets, and Joe Rogan proved it once. Almost three years ago, the JRE host had Dustin Poirier on his podcast when he decided to jibe at ‘The Diamond’ for using an Android phone. Now, the lightweight star has finally opened up on it. After coming across a video clip from that episode online, Poirier opened up on which side he’s on.
The US is the biggest market for Apple products, and it wasn’t like we had any doubts about it because the company’s most used product, the iPhone has almost 50%-60% market share in the country. So, Joe Rogan was just letting Dustin Poirier know about the common consensus regarding smartphones back in 2021. But ‘The Diamond’ stands firm on his choice.

During the #102 episode of the JRE MMA Show, Dustin Poirier wanted to show a picture to Joe Rogan relating to a surgery he had and picked out his phone. However, while searching for that snap, he was having trouble with his phone. Was it getting slow? Well, we don’t know that, but looking at Poirier’s struggle, Joe Rogan decided to chime in and suggested he buy the almighty iPhone.
“What’s happening with your phone? Do you need help? Maybe you should get an iPhone. It’d be super f***ing easy,” said Joe Rogan. However, Dustin Poirier doesn’t want an iPhone because he’s habituated using his Samsung Android phone. He replied, “No… I am [committed to using Android phones]… I’m just used to it. I don’t wanna switch it up.”
This prompted Joe Rogan to talk about the tendencies of Android users. They get immensely defensive about it, according to the 56-year-old. That makes it hard for them to switch to the Apple product. But when they do make that switch, they seem to like it.
“It’s an interesting thing the commitment that people have towards Android. When they have it, they’re like, ‘F*** you. I am sticking to my guns.’ And when they do give in, they do give in. A lot of them give in,” Rogan added. But despite his persuasion, ‘The Diamond’ is sticking to what he likes best, and that’s his Samsung Android phone. “But [Samsung Mobile US] Gang,” Poirier tweeted recently.
But @SamsungMobileUS Gang!!!

Back in 2021, after the appearance on JRE, the Korean brand reached out to Poirier for a sponsorship deal. ‘The Diamond’ shared the news via his Instagram. Later, he said while on Teddy Atlas’ show, “I am out here on Joe Rogan’s podcast, talking about how much of a fan I am of Samsung and they reach out and it’s just organic and true because I am using the product. So I am thankful for those brands that wanted to align themselves with me.”
The lightweight stalwart has since then been promoting the brand and its products via his social media. So it’s safe to say this might not be the last time he chooses his Android phone, but when it comes to his UFC career, UFC 302 might just be his last shot at the championship strap.

UFC 302: possibly the last chance for ‘The Diamond’ to become undisputed
The headliner for the upcoming UFC PPV is possibly the biggest fight of the year so far, simply because both Dustin Poirier and Islam Makhachev are two of the most followed stars in the promotion. The fans are excited and so are most of the key MMA personalities, but it seems to be a do-or-die situation for ‘The Diamond’ because this could probably be the last time he would get the chance to taste championship gold.
“I’m gonna put my hands on this guy, I’m coming in there to hurt him. This is my last shot,” Dustin Poirier told Ariel Helwani. He once failed to capitalize on the title shot back when he fought Khabib Nurmagomedov, but now, it’s a different story because his protégé is up. It will be interesting to see if Poirier can check his bucket list and claim the one thing that has eluded him for his entire UFC career.
