Alex Pereira is the most fearsome striker in the UFC at the moment. ‘Poatan’s’ legendary left hook has one-touch evaporating power and moreover, the Brazilian juggernaut has recently made an example out of his UFC 307 opponent Khalil Rountree Jr. by converting him into a walking Benadryl advertisement. Not to mention he holds the record for the hardest punch recorded on the UFC’s PowerKube machine at the Performance Institute. Mind you, the hardest punch that is of any current or former UFC fighter. Otherwise, his record has been broken, and broken by quite some margin.
By whom you may ask? The answer is not surprising as this individual is the epitome of raw strength. The internet’s favorite strongman Eddie Hall, went to the UFC PI a few months ago and recorded a punch power of around 208k Watts, almost 30k higher than Pereira’s record of around 190k Watts. And naturally, the 2017 World’s Strongest Man competition winner was incredibly proud of his achievement, as he told Michael Bisping gleefully on the latter’s YouTube channel.
“I did the, you know the PowerKube thing at the UFC [Performance Institute] where you punch the cube. So I’ve got the highest score on that right now it’s something like 210,000 [actually around 208,000]… I don’t know how they work it out but Alex, is it Pereira?… So he had the record for ages, he had 190,000. And then I came along and smashed it and did 210 [thousand]. So I was quite proud of myself,” Hall said.

But what Hall was even more proud of was that he was able to break the punching record in only a couple of tries. Which, ‘The Beast’ pointed out, was in sharp contrast to other fighters (perhaps including Pereira), who tee off on the machine for long periods of time.
“So that cube is on the wall and the thing is, right, so everyone’s like ‘Oh yeah, but Alex Pereira only hit it once.’ I’m telling you now I’ve been to that Center and they queue up all day hitting that thing, all day. So the fact that I just walked in smashed it a few times and hit 210. I was like ‘They can stand there all day and try and beat that and they won’t get it,'” he added.

This is not surprising since ‘The Beast’ is not only a former WSM winner but also famously deadlifted 500 kilos (1102 pounds) a few years ago, which was a world record at that time. But now, it seems Hall’s strongman days are behind him as he has embarked on another, perhaps even tougher sport- mixed martial arts.

Eddie Hall wants to become a mixed martial artist after breaking Alex Pereira’s punch record
Eddie Hall officially made his combat sports debut two years ago, which went horribly for him. ‘The Beast’ faced fellow strongman, Hafthor Bjornsson in a boxing match who won a unanimous decision since Hall lost all but one of the six rounds. But it seems boxing didn’t suit Hall’s fancy, and he has moved to MMA, where he can use his strength to very good effect.

This June, Hall made his MMA ‘debut’ in a 2v1 clash against TikTok stars, the Neffati brothers at the appropriately named ‘World Freak Fight League’ in the UK. He won the fight quite comfortably, which is not surprising since he outweighed both brothers combined! But now, he is looking for a more serious and more appropriate challenge against someone his size. ‘The Beast’ is in talks with former five-time WSM winner and 17-9 MMA veteran Mariusz Pudzianowski for a proper MMA fight.
“I think the main thing for me is fighting Mariusz Pudzianowski. I mean that you know, I really want that fight I think it’s something that people want to see as well. Two World’s Strongest Men, giants colliding at once. I think it’s just it’s exciting, isn’t it,” Hall told Bisping. What do you think about Eddie Hall breaking Alex Pereira’s punching record?
