Every time Derrick Lewis won a fight, it was full of his incredible strikes. His last fight ended with Lewis on top after he finished off Marcos Rogério de Lima with a flying knee and a barrage of punches. The fighter has made himself famous for being incredibly candid on camera and in post-fight interviews.

Strikers may find themselves struggling against grapplers, the opposite fighting style clash is always fun to watch. Well, fans are in for just that with Lewis’ next fight. He will be going up against perhaps the most terrifying heavyweight grappler after Jon Jones. Jailton Almeida has no losses in his UFC career so far.

While Lewis finishes opponents off with strikes, the last few of Almeida’s wins came in via the rare naked choke. The submission expert has lost no fights to submission moves while winning 12 via submission in his overall MMA career. It’s going to be a fight worth the excitement.

Almeida happens to have a 14-fight winning streak combining his wins before and with the UFC. However, Lewis has been competing for far longer with the promotion. In fact, Lewis ended his last fight in seconds too. So comparing the stats, it has the fans asking- Is ‘The Black Beast’ also going to finish his opponent in the blink of an eye?

Lewis replaced someone for the fight to happen

Originally, the bout was meant to be between Curtis Blaydes and Almeida. However, Blaydes was replaced recently and won’t be showing up. He and Lewis have clashed before back in 2021. Back then, Lewis took the win by ending Blaydes in the second round with an uppercut.
