Jose Aldo, affectionately titled “The King of Rio” has announced his retirement from UFC. Fans have showered their love on the legend through Twitter. Jose Aldo has been kicking it in the ring for almost two decades. His wonderful career saw him become a featherweight champ, and he has certainly seen and won it all.

He had been fighting since his WEC (World Extreme Cagefighting) days and also saw it transition into the UFC. The fighter also shared a post on his social media handles recently, which might give an answer to this decision.

Welcoming a new member, “Jose Aldo III”

Jose Aldo was a cheerful man, as he took to Twitter, welcoming his baby boy. “I’m happy! My Son!,” Aldo wrote on Twitter. Looks like the champion is ready to take on new challenges outside the ring, taking up the role of a father and a role model to his son.

Maybe this has all to do with his sudden announcement of exiting from the UFC.

Jose Aldo’s legs are just built differently

The former UFC Champion’s leg-breaking techniques were always a joy to watch.

His fight against Pedro Munoz really showcased his ability to use kicks for both offensive and defensive moves.

Fans are sharing clips from his previous fights, which show him being technically efficient in delivering blows to his opponents in an unpredictable style.

His offensive style got him to create openings and his agility and reaction speed were awe-inducing and earned him loyal fans of his work.

He will be missed, as truly, there is no one like him.

Fans are not ready to see Jose Aldo leave

The Brazilian last fought Merab Dvalishvili in Salt Lake City, which was an enduring battle but ended up going in Merab’s way. Although he managed to secure three consecutive victories prior to the Merab Fight, against Rob Font, Pedro Munhoz, and Marlon Viera, respectively.

 

His coach, Andre Pederneiras, publicly stated that he thought it was time for Jose to hang up his boots. Aldo said, “I would tell him to quit. I think Aldo has already conquered so much. It’s not going to be that last fight that is going to take away the legacy he has built in the sport.”

He further adds, “My biggest fear is when an athlete arrives at this final stage of their career and an injury might mess them up for the rest of their life.” (via Bloody Elbows)

Andre might just be right, as it is highly dangerous to expose yourself to the dangers of this sport while your body refuses to comply. Because one lazy swing or a half-hearted block could come with severe consequences.

Although his last match was disappointing, it definitely won’t be what fight fans will remember him for, as he had many stellar moments in his illustrious career that gave so much meaning to the sport.
