Magomed Ankalaev and Alex Pereira have been embracing a newfound rivalry as the Dagestani has accused ‘Poatan’ of dodging a fight against him to fight the #8th ranked Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 307. In a rather perfect world, Ankalaev should have had the opportunity to fight the Brazilian before anyone else, but UFC CEO Dana White had other thoughts. After constant callouts by the fans, Pereira cleared the air around the situation and stated that he has never said no to any fights against Magomed Ankalaev, but it was the UFC, who has been adamant about not giving the Dagetsani a title shot.

So, bro, honestly, it’s not my fault that Ankalaev has such poor style fighting that nobody wants to watch.”
So, according to Alex Pereira, it is the promotion who is not letting him fight Magomed Ankalaev, but how much of it is true? Well, Kevin Iole had the same conversation with the UFC CEO Dana White as well, and his answer was a bit different: “I don’t remember exactly what the timing of that was, but we didn’t make a fight at the time. We made the Khalil Rountree fight; Ankalaev already had a fight.”

He further emphasized that if he performed better against Rakic, then he get the next title shot. “Listen, Ankalaev’s ranked number two; he goes out and puts on an unbelievable performance, and Alex is still the champion. Then he’s next.” Magomed Ankalaev’s next victory would mean a title shot for him, per UFC CEO. Regardless, Alex Pereira’s ‘Boring’ fighter jibe has been taken seriously by the Dagestani as he fires back at him.

I’m ready to fight the guy. He’s ready to fight me, so whenever they put that fight. People talk about my ground, so there’s a good chance I’m going to show everybody.”
He further added, “‘Alex have 6 KO in UFC I have 6 KO He knows why he’s not fighting me and Fighting the number eight guy let’s be real focus on your fight. I will do the same. We will see after if you will accept good luck, champ.” Well, Alex Pereira has a better track record than Magomed Ankalaev, but despite this, the Dagestani believes that he is ducking him.
