“It still remains to be seen if I’m gonna be able to make it to her birth,” said Michael Chandler last month, worried about making it in time to welcome his baby into the world, as he has a fight coming up. But guess what, it looks like that won’t be the case, as ‘Iron’ Mike had made another addition to his family. After his two adopted sons, the UFC star and his wife Brie Chandler have a newborn baby daughter. This time around, they went they often for surrogacy via a woman named Blair, and Mrs. Chandler seems to be over the moon.

It’s safe to say that Michael Chandler’s fighting career is in a bit of a weird space. While waiting for Conor McGregor, people believe that he wasted that time. Then when he returned to action last year, he fought hard, but just couldn’t find the win. But when it comes to his personal life, the self-proclaimed most entertaining lightweight seems to only enjoy the good times. Chandler’s wife was the one who shared the news of their newborn, Dru Miller Chandler, while thanking the woman who delivered the baby.

“We are overwhelmed with gratitude to our sweet gestational carrier, Blair, who brought our daughter into this world. What a gift,” Michael Chandler’s wife wrote on Instagram. While she wasn’t expecting her husband to be there, he took the time out from his fight camp, ahead of his UFC 314 fight against Paddy Pimblett, to make a stop at the hospital to support the woman helping the couple.

“[Michael Chandler] surprised me by flying in during her C-section, and I couldn’t stop crying – he’s less than 2 weeks out from his next fight and our little world is full of wonderful chaos,” Brie Chandler added. “The boys are in love and wrapped already.”

In the Instagram post, Michael Chandler’s wife appeared to be very grateful for being able to find people who carry their child for them, calling them “special.” But why does the couple only adopt children? Well, the UFC star once opened up about this topic during an interview last year. Here’s what ‘Iron’ Mike had to say.

Michael Chandler reveals the reason for adopting rather than conceiving children

The former UFC title contender and his wife have been together for a long time. Before the couple tied the knot, they once had an important conversation while enjoying time together at a park in San Diego. It was then that Chandler revealed Brie told him about her desire to become a mother by way of adoption. ‘Iron’ wasn’t expecting this revelation from his wife, but without any hesitation, he gave her the green light.

Can Michael Chandler juggle the chaos of a newborn and the pressure of an upcoming fight?

“It [her revelation] caught me off-guard a little bit because I had never really thought about it, and quite frankly I was like, ‘Whoa, I’ve never really thought about this but I’ll do anything to marry you like I’m completely on board with that,” Michael Chandler said in an appearance on the Ultimate Human Podcast. Moreover, the desire of Mrs. Chandler to adopt goes back to her days as a teenager, according to the UFC lightweight star.

Happy days for the Chandler household, but he needs to quickly get back into fight mode, given that Paddy Pimblett is focused on making his way into the top 10. A win against ‘Iron’ will definitely propel ‘The Baddy’ up the rankings. Are you excited for the UFC 314 co-main event? Who do you think will clinch the victory?
