Dustin Poirier is a household name in the UFC. Many consider this man from Lafayette, Louisiana, to be one of the best boxers in the UFC. But, in recent times, things haven’t gone Poirier’s way. Despite a valorous win over Michael Chandler in UFC 281, Poirier couldn’t celebrate for long as he was hospitalized due to a staph infection in his foot on December 4. He had also been providing regular updates about his medical procedures through his Instagram stories. But, ‘Diamond’s’ most recent Instagram story carried a different tone.

After the struggle for a couple of days, ‘Diamond’ is recovering quite well now. He underwent foot surgery on Thursday, December 8, and is “now on recovery” as his wife Jolie Poirier wrote on her Instagram.
Dustin Poirier mentioned Joe Rogan in his story
Poirer’s Instagram story showcased Joe Rogan in his UFC attire. His sitting down pose while interviewing ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor after he suffered a broken shin bone was displayed in Poirier’s story.
Rogan was morphed into a snap of ‘Diamond’s’ infected foot, and the entire thing appeared as if Rogan was interviewing it. Poirier also wrote, “@joerogan” as a mention.
Previously, ESPN’s Brett Okamoto had tweeted about the first two days of Poirier’s hospitalization when his body wasn’t responding to the antibiotics. He wrote, “Some context on Dustin Poirier’s (@DustinPoirier) IG posts about being hospitalized … told me it’s staph, but he’s not responding to antibiotics over the last 24 hours. Undergoing further blood work now, hopefully get some answers today”.

Poirier’s state was quite serious during the initial two days of hospitalization. But a successful surgery became the prime factor in turning around his condition. It was also apparent from his Joe Rogan story that ‘The Louisiana Guy’ had got his humor back despite still being in a recovery condition.
Dustin Poirier’s story might be a reminder for Conor McGregor
‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor took the opportunity of Poirier’s hospitalization to vent out his disgust towards his last adversary in the Octagon. McGregor retweeted Okamoto’s tweet with a deriding caption, although he decided to take it down within some time. McGregor’s now-deleted retweet read, “Heal up soon scruffy knickers”. His deriding intent was evident from his words.
Poirier had also responded to McGregor, who was being accused by many of using steroids, including Joe Rogan. ‘Diamond’ wrote, “You done filming Roid House and ready to get slapped around again!?”. It was clear that Poirier wasn’t backing out from this game.

Recently, the ‘JRE’ host, Joe Rogan had also blamed McGregor for using PEDs for his incredibly jacked-up physique. Rogan stated that McGregor “looks like his p*ss would melt that USADA cup”.

Poirier’s Instagram story also might have been a reality check for McGregor. Although Poirier was down with an infected swollen foot currently, it was McGregor who had to give an interview sitting on the ground while they came face to face in the Octagon. Joe Rogan’s down-to-ground pose, which he took while interviewing McGregor, was also a ‘one-time’ incident in the UFC.
What do you think Poirier tried to imply through his ‘Joe Rogan Instagram story’?
