UFC welterweight Ian ‘Machado’ Garry delivered a remarkable performance in his one-sided victory against UFC veteran Neil Magny. Right from the very first second, it was clear that Magny had no response to Garry’s speed and leg kicks. And if it weren’t for Magny’s durability and toughness, this match wouldn’t have gone to the decision.

However, Garry won via decision. And to cement himself as the best striker in the welterweight division, Garry even made a call out to Stephen Thompson for his next fight. But as this match was about to happen, Conor McGregor’s sparring partner mocked Garry on social media. Directly addressing the Irish fans, Danis asked them a question involving Garry and his wife.

Dillon Danis on Twitter addressed the Irish fans and asked them about Ian Garry’s adoption of his wife’s last name. While addressing the Irish fans, Danis tweeted, “Irish fans, here’s a question: does it bother you that Ian Garry adopted his wife’s last name?”

To the unaware, ‘Machado’ is the last name of Garry’s wife Layla (Brazillian by birth). And when she was expecting another child, Garry adopted this moniker in his name to solidify a sense of unity.

However, middleweight title challenger Sean Strickland didn’t like this gesture from Garry. A few days ago, Strickland mocked Garry for the same reason. In the interview, Strickland called out Garry for adopting his wife’s name, tagging him as a ‘beta male.’

Known to judge people for their toughness and manliness, Strickland called out Garry and said, “I don’t like the Irish guy, because he’s a f**king beta male. Didn’t he take his girl’s last name? Yeah, he took his girl’s last name.”

Ian Garry partners with Jake Paul

It is to be highlighted that this tweet from Danis comes days after Garry announced his partnership with controversial YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul‘s Betr media company. Danis is also scheduled to fight Jake’s elder brother, Logan Paul, on October 14, 2023. Further, adding fuel to the narrative, Paul has an ongoing beef with Conor McGregor, who hails from the same nation as Garry.

This news didn’t sit well with fans, who, while disliking this decision, also understood the reasoning behind Garry’s move. A fan commented, “I understand you gotta provide for your family, but this is A fat L.”
