So, you thought 2025 was going to be just another year, right? Wrong. Apparently, Dana White’s got something in the works that’ll blow your mind, and we’re not talking about another fight card. Nope, this one’s got more flair than a UFC championship belt, and it involves two of the world’s richest people. Sound intriguing? Because it gets even wilder. Imagine this: Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, yes, the real-life Silicon Valley titans, actually fighting… in the Colosseum. Yes, that Colosseum. You can’t make this up.

Dana White shared this gem of a story during an interview on the Pardon My Take podcast, dropping hints about a mega-battle that almost became a reality. Forget any ‘celebrity boxing’ nonsense, this was shaping up to be a full-on UFC showdown between two billionaires. And White, being White, didn’t just chat about it, he got serious. “I was like negotiating that deal (air quotes) that was actually one of the coolest experiences of my career, that was fun. Every night I was on the phone with either one of them,” he said. “We started talking about the Colosseum in Rome, and I seriously had a conference call with the government in Rome to try to make that happen. That was all legit, that was real.”

Talk about history in the making. Forget the Roman Empire, this would have been the Roman Takeover, Musk vs. Zuckerberg under the ancient arches. Can you picture it? But wait, don’t get too excited just yet. Things didn’t quite pan out. Surprise, surprise. The head honcho quickly followed up with, “But what I was talking about in December, I imagine it’s going to happen in the fall. A fight that I’m working on.

Yeah, okay, Dana. We’ll believe it when we see it. But that doesn’t mean we won’t entertain the idea of Elon and Zuck battling it out for the title of ‘World’s Wealthiest Puncher.’ Now, if you’ve been following this saga for a while, you know that this wasn’t just another random spat on X (formerly Twitter) between the two tech moguls.

How did Dana White’s matchmaking witchcraft fall short this time?

It all started with some real trash talk. Musk threw the first punch (metaphorically, of course) by challenging Zuckerberg to a fight, and the Meta CEO? He wasn’t backing down. In fact, he jumped right in, talking about fighting in the Octagon, which, if you’re still wondering, isn’t just for grizzled fighters and former champions. No, Zuckerberg was all about it and had even been showing off his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu chops. The guy was serious. Or maybe just really bored.

But it wasn’t just the billionaires who had their say. UFC fighters, like Bo Nickal, have gone on record calling Zuckerberg’s potential MMA career a thing worth watching. “He really wants to get a fight,” Nickal said. You heard that right, the guy who practically invented social media and created his own alternate reality could be stepping into the cage. But do we really think he’s ready to go toe-to-toe with some of the UFC’s finest? I mean, Zuckerberg’s out here training, sure, but is he just flexing for the camera, or is this the real deal?

What’s your perspective on:

Could Zuckerberg really hold his own in the Octagon, or is this just Silicon Valley fantasy?

Of course, the UFC connection runs deep, probably deeper than we all thought. White has a special relationship with Zuckerberg. They’ve been tighter than your favorite pair of fight shorts. Zuck’s not just a fan of the UFC, he’s practically an insider, showing up backstage, training with fighters, and oh yeah, being so close to Dana White that the line between UFC and Meta is blurring day by day. Further, the tech mogul is not just hanging out in gyms, he’s training. Why hasn’t this fight happened yet? Simple answer, Musk bailed. But with Dana sitting on Meta’s board, you can bet this topic will be back on the table soon enough.
