“It really came from Joe Rogan and I talking,” Kevin James said of his movie ‘Here Comes the Boom.’ The 59-year-old has a long-standing friendship with the host of the Joe Rogan Experience. The foundation for their friendship goes deeper than their stand-up comedy careers and into their shared interest in martial arts.

Before becoming the UFC color commentator and taking over the world as a million-dollar podcasterJoe Rogan was huge in the comedy scene and made a lot of friends there. Kevin James is one of them who shares a unique camaraderie with Rogan. The chemistry between the duo was so palpable that even Hollywood actor and comedian Adam Sandler noticed it and decided to speak on the same recently.

During Joe Rogan Experience #2187, the actor comedian, and producer came to the show to promote his new Netflix Comedy Special “Love You.” They even spoke about Rogan’s latest standup comedy show “Burn the Boats” which is getting pretty mixed reaction from fans.

Right off the bat, the conversation started about Joe Rogan and his stand-up comedy days. The podcast suddenly had an uno reverse moment when the “Spaceman” actor started questioning Rogan about his start as a comedian. He even complimented the chemistry that Rogan has with Kevin James.

Rogan said, “I have known Kevin for 30-something years. I have known him forever. Sandler then complimented, “It’s funny because even your standup, I watched your standup the other night. You guys remind me of each other.  There is something; something you take your time on stage you set it up, you say your sh **** and you live in it. Like it’s not the same but you guys you can tell you guys are buddies.”

Rogan was pretty elated hearing this and went down memory lane talking about how they met. They met at Eastside when Rogan had first started doing standup comedy which was almost a decade ago. Adam Sandler, Joe Rogan, and Kevin James know the comedy scene very well and the UFC color commentator has even complimented the Hollywood actor on his slapstick comedy. He had spoken about how he binge-watched Adam Sandler movies during the pandemic.

As for James, back in 2012, he talked about how he and Rogan bonded over martial arts. “We were doing standup [comedy] together and we started watching Pancrase and we saw Bas Rutten in Japan with all his fights.” The Hollywood star also explained how Rogan played a huge role in making ‘Here Comes the Boom’ a reality. “I’ve always wanted to try to incorporate some mixed martial arts into a movie, and Joe and I were talking about how we could make it a comedy. It seems difficult to do without making it goofy and jokey … . The challenge was just kind of getting a blend of real comedy and real moments and also infusing that with realistic MMA.”

For fans, Kevin James is best known for his comic timing and amusing movies but Joe Rogan has known him as a close friend for 30 years. The best friends even reunited during Joe Rogan Experience 2116 and it was an enduring experience to watch.

The camaraderie between Joe Rogan and Kevin James

After watching episode 2116, the fans realized the beautiful relationship that the duo shared. The actor and comedian had come to promote Rogan’s club Comedy Mothership and the friends spoke about a lot of topics, especially about the past.

The fans noticed the camaraderie between the duo and even commented on how this podcast just looked like two best friends were talking to each other and not an interview. Even though James is known for his comical acting, according to Joe Rogan he is also an amazing martial artist. They also used to spend time watching combat sports together in their 20s when neither of them had risen to fame.

During an old episode of JRE Bas Rutten and the UFC color commentator were discussing KJ’s fighting prowess. Rogan said. We were friends in our early, early 20s. We were just starting… Kevin used to watch all that sh*t with me. We used to watch Pancrase and the early K-1 fights and everything, man. Kevin is a serious martial artist too, people don’t realize that. He can hit, man. He’s got fu**ing power He’s a good dude. I’ve known that guy forever. However, even Joe Rogan was in disbelief of his best friend, when he heard that he had lost 50 pounds for a movie.

During episode 2116 James confessed that he went down to 230 pounds and left Rogan speechless. Fans and even Adam Sandler can see what an amazing friend Kevin James is to Joe Rogan. Did you expect this kind of bonding between the duo?
