Did Donald Trump save the UFC, or was it just a strategic move for his own gain?

For UFC head honcho Dana White, loyalty is key to earning his support. This loyalty is clear in his close relationships with figures like Joe Rogan and Donald Trump, for whom White is willing to go to great lengths. And this was further underlined at the Republican National Convention when White spoke out in support of Trump, just days after an assassination attempt on him.

White said, “I’m not telling you what choice to make and I’m not telling you how to think.” This statement further reinforced White’s loyalty principle, which he elaborated on in a recent interview with a major media outlet. In that interview, he explained how the former president supported the UFC during challenging times.

Dana White recently sat down with Fox Nation News, where he shared insights into his friendship with Donald Trump. This led the host to ask White, “ The one thing that stands out a loyalty. And the one things you appreciate about former president, is that he was there early. How much does that matter to your relationship?”

White didn’t hesitate to respond, stating that Donald Trump has always been a fight fan. He explained how Trump first reached out to the UFC during their struggles in the 2000s when they were having trouble securing venues and getting sanctioned by state athletic commissions due to MMA’s negative reputation at the time.

White said, “The truth though – I think the foot had a big factor. Trump was the guy who reached out to us when we couldn’t get venues. They came to us and offered the Taj and we did out first fight and stayed until the last fight at both events.”

We have witnessed Donald Trump at UFC pay-per-views numerous times, but his last appearance at UFC 302, headlined by Islam Makhachev vs. Dustin Poirier, was particularly notable. When Trump arrived at the Prudential Center in Newark to enjoy the fight, he received unexpectedly a huge standing ovation from fight fans, who showed their support and endorsement for him.

His response impressed both his supporters and his close friend, UFC CEO Dana White, who couldn’t help but comment on it during an interview with The Pat McAfee Show. White said, He is one of the toughest, most resilient human beings I’ve ever met in my life…Well, when the sh*t goes down, you find out who tough guys are and who tough guys are not. This guy is the legitimate, ultimate American bad a** of all-time.”
