Former featherweight title challenger, Brian Ortega will return to the octagon this weekend after a two-year hiatus. He last fought back at the end of 2018, where he lost to then-champion Max Holloway by doctor stoppage.

‘T-City’ sat down with the media ahead of this weekend’s fight. He will face ‘The Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung in a highly anticipated matchup that was booked for the UFC event in South Korea last December.

When questioned whether he would consider the fight a grudge match, Ortega said, “No man, not at all. I could see how it can be seen that way by my actions. I think ultimately it was like, yo we’re talking too much and I’m starting to get pissed…If you really want to go to war with me, this is the beginning, like I can get petty as f***.”

The fighter noted that he would like to continue acting like a professional. Here, being an astute professional will help him achieve his goal of beating up ‘The Korean Zombie’

Ortega got into an altercation with Korean rapper Jay Park at UFC 248. Subsequently, he seemed to have taken offense with Park’s words while helping translate his upcoming opponent’s interview. The featherweight contender opined that the air has cleared up between the duo. He said, “I think it was very clear, kind of like yo let’s let’s stop this s*** and let’s just do what we started with.”

Given the duo’s penchant for finishing their opponents, it could be a violent main event. ‘T-City’ said, “You know, Abu Dhabi, I hope has good hospitals, because we’re both gonna be in there by the end of the night.”

Brian Ortega vs ‘The Korean Zombie’ has major title implications

Ortega has only suffered one loss in his career. Meanwhile, Chan Sung Jung is on a two-fight win streak with his last win coming against Frankie Edgar.

Ortega is a student of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and possesses one of the best submission games in the UFC. His submission prowess has earned him the nickname ‘T-City’ aka Triangle City. ‘The Korean Zombie’ is no mug in ending fights and has claimed 14 finishes in his professional career.

‘T-City is currently at #2 in the official UFC rankings, while ‘The Korean Zombie’ is at #4. With #1 ranked Max Holloway having already lost twice to the Champion Alexander Volkanovski, the UFC will be looking out for fresh challengers for the 145 lbs title. This puts Ortega and ‘The Korean Zombie’ in the prime spot to emerge as ‘The Great’s’ next opponent.
