“About to Get Sent Back to Eagle FC”: Rebellious Kevin Lee’s Lash Out at the UFC and Dana White Doesn’t Go Down Well as Fans Caution 30 Y.O After Bold Move

Kevin Lee went from fighting Tony Ferguson for the interim lightweight title to getting booted from the UFC in late 2021. Fortunately, ‘Motown Phenom’ is getting a second chance in the UFC and he is already off to a rocky start. The 30-year-old will begin his second UFC run at UFC Vegas 76 this weekend. However, Lee thinks the setting for his UFC return is far from ideal. The former interim lightweight title challenger voiced some of his frustrations during the media scrum for the event.

Shortly after his UFC exit, Kevin Lee joined Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s Eagle FC. He fought under the promotion for their US events but has been out of action since they moved overseas. After a frustrating period of inactivity, Lee managed to make his way back to the UFC. He returns at UFC Vegas 76 on July 1st in a welterweight bout. As excited as he was for his return, his pre-fight woes did not sit well with a section of fans who had a go at him in their responses.

What is bothering Kevin Lee before his UFC return?

Kevin Lee has not taken to the fact that his return will be at the UFC Apex. The former lightweight star would have preferred performing in an arena packed with fans. Lee voiced his frustrations and questioned the UFC’s choice to hold events in the Apex.

He said, “The pandemic is over. I don’t know what we’re still doing [at Apex]. I’m gonna go out there in front of the two, three hundred rich motherf***ers that wanna see me bleed and we’re going to get it in.”

The promotion started holding events at the Apex back in 2020 when they restarted their shows during the pandemic. A much smaller arena with a much smaller cage, the Apex has hosted some historic UFC bouts and is also home to shows like the Contender Series and The Ultimate Fighter.

However, it denies fans the opportunity to watch fights live due to a bare minimum seating capacity. Therefore, Lee’s complaints were not without merit. But fans thought the star was in no position to make demands.

Fans react to Lee’s comments on UFC Apex

Under an Instagram post highlighting Lee’s comments, fans had a go at everyone and everything. Some of them grilled Lee for having demands when he’s only just getting back in the UFC. Others agreed with Lee and went after Dana White. Interestingly, there were also those that preferred things the way they are.
