Is Conor McGregor closing in another deal before the end of this month? The former dual-weight champion appears to be interested in investing in the Irish Soccer league after his cousin Warren Davis won the FAI Cup playing for Drogheda United in November. However, his decision might have backfired on the entire Irish soccer league, as the same club appears to have distanced itself from the former UFC champion because of the Nikita Hand civil case.
McGregor’s cousin Warren Davis was unused and was on the bench when Drogheda United defeated Derry City 2-0 in the final at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin in November 2024. It might be a bit late but the former dual-weight champion celebrated his cousin’s success at a restaurant. Uploading several photos on his Instagram handle with his family and friends, McGregor wrote, “How much is it to buy a league of Ireland team? I might buy two.”
Conor McGregor further clarified that he wasn’t joking around when he uploaded the total market value of all the Irish clubs, which was just $27.99 million, and captioned it as, “The whole fuckin’ league. Lol. To Europe, we are all going.” His words may have irked the Drogheda United management, as the team’s response to McGregor holding the trophy to his chest seemed somewhat exaggerated.

In a statement released by the winning team in a social media post, they said, “It has been brought to our attention regarding the FAI Cup. Those pictured are a close relation to one of our first team players, who like all the other players had custody of the cup to celebrate with their families at different intervals,” the club added. “Drogheda United do not associate ourselves with the individual who made the social media post in any way, or with any unauthorised brands mentioned.”

The UFC fighter’s cousin earned his promotion to the first team after progressing through the youth ranks at Drogheda. However, he never made an appearance in the final game. Notably, this cup marked Drogheda’s first major victory since 2007. Nevertheless, the backlash McGregor from the Irish public led him to emphasize that he might leave his home country and move to the United States sooner rather than later.
The McGregor family suffered huge losses in Britain and Ireland as retailers refused to sell his stout and Proper No 12 whiskey but that was not the case in the United States of America. A source close to the McGregor family stated that the fighter might move back to the USA, “However the court case has not been as damaging commercially in the United States where most of his fans are standing by him. He wants out of Ireland for the moment and to move back to the States,” said the source.
Conor McGregor currently owns an apartment in Las Vegas but is considering a move to Florida instead. However, before moving back to the USA, the fighter would love to make a comeback to the combat sports arena once again and Logan Paul was the key to but it appears that the older Paul brother is not in a mood to entertain anyone other than WWE.

Logan Paul drops cold water on Conor McGregor’s comeback dreams
Last year, Conor McGregor announced that he had agreed on a deal to clash against Logan Paul in India. According to the former UFC champ, he was dealing with the Ambani family to fight for a massive $250 million payday. Further sources suggested that the clash might take place in June this year. Many within the community raised doubts about the viability of the event as neither the Ambani family nor Logan Paul had made any statements regarding the clash. As the entire MMA community expressed confusion, the older Paul brother has finally come up to address his plans.
While having a conversation with that of WWE RAW, the YouTuber-Turned-wrestler emphasized that he has done enough side-gigs in his career to have a stable life and he would like to dedicate his career to WWE for now, “I’ve been so good at this. Now, I’m dedicating my life to this. No More side hustle, no more bullish-t. 100% WWE.”

After McGregor announced the fight, Logan Paul made a statement about it but later deleted it before anyone could see it. It’s worth noting that Jake Paul is also involved in the negotiations, and if the fight takes place, Jake Paul and the UFC would need to come to an agreement.
His statement might have dropped the anchor on Conor McGregor’s desire to make a comeback to the combat sports arena. Regardless, what’s your take on ‘The Notorious’s actions recently? State your thoughts in the comments below.
