Ahead of the highly anticipated fight, Chandler appeared on The Pivot Podcast and discussed the upcoming bout and his career. He mentioned how he wanted to be in the limelight and create a name for himself since he came into MMA at 22. According to ‘Iron’, ‘Mystic Mac’ is the way to check the box of the biggest platform and the most attention. Along with complimenting his opponent, he criticized him as well!

When the host asked him about how McGregor was not so humble, ‘Iron’ decided to explain it in detail. He said that he was a go-getter and always earned what he received in his life. Chandler narrated how the ‘good guy and bad guy’ narrative was created by the media and fans but that is what happens in the limelight.

The welterweight then criticized McGregor saying, “I just look across the cage right now and see him, this is just a man who hasn’t earned what he has gotten anymore. He created a life, he earned it up until these last couple of years.”

Chandler gave his reasons as to why the fight is still on

The 38-year-old had fought two years ago like his opponent. The Missouri native has finally got the chance to take on ‘The Notorious’ and even in this chaos, he seems calm. This is because of one simple reason; Chandler was not offered another fight. He said to Ryan Clark in an interview, “I always remained faithful in the whole scenario. You got the public perception and then you have the actual people in the trenches, right? The guys on the phone call with Dana and Hunter, management, and the guys behind the closed doors having the conversations. And I was getting enough reassurance that this was the route to continue to follow. I was never offered another fight.”

He was confident in the UFC’s decisions and said that if the fight was not slated to happen, he would already know his next opponent’s name but that is not the case yet. Just like Chandler, UFC fans are also hoping for the best and the fighter’s words might give some relief to the UFC world. What are your thoughts on Chandler’s deductions?
