Joe Rogan has come out claiming that he has taken Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) and Human Growth Hormone (HGH) in the past. But the longtime UFC commentator discussed the grim reality of TRT on the recent JRE Fight Companion episode. He blamed the doctors who administer these substances, claiming it’s their fault, to begin with.
Rogan and his guests Bryan Callen, Brendan Schaub, and Brian Simpson discussed the incident when the fight was canceled between UFC star Nate Marquardt and Rick Story.
Rogan revealed he was there when the news broke out. Marquardt’s life was hanging by a thread due to an astounding amount of TRT in his body. “I remember that fight getting canceled… I was like, ‘What is going on?’ They’re like, ‘He’s [Nate Marquardt] like at a, he could die. His levels of testosterone are so high,” said Joe Rogan. After the TRT news broke out, Dana White banned the former Strikeforce champion from the UFC.

Schaub revealed another instance when Marquardt had nitrous oxide in his body. American Addiction Centers claim that frequent and high use of that substance could prove fatal to the lungs. It is because the oxygen pathways get displaced pretty easily due to overuse.
#ICYMI: Growth hormone (GH), and more specifically human growth hormone (hGH), has been known as one way to get an edge. But athletes need to know the risks associated with growth hormone from a health and #cleansport perspective.https://t.co/ddNjnmyfsq pic.twitter.com/F3VWwL2JJm

Schaub claimed to have accompanied Nate Marquardt to see a doctor. But when the doctor realized the situation, he gave Marquardt a cold shoulder. “He had nitrous oxide in his bloodstream and then all of us were going to the same doctor and then the doctor’s like, ‘See ya!’ he closed up shop,” Schaub stated.
Many curious MMA and UFC fans have called out Joe Rogan for the unusual shape of his stomach region. The fans deemed it as an ‘HGH bubble gut‘. But Rogan has always held his ground using a prescribed amount of HGH and TRT. He did not make any admissions about having problems of his own. However, after analyzing what happened with Nate Marquardt, he blamed the ignorant medical professionals.
Joe Rogan hits out at the doctors for wrong administration of TRT
At the time when the use of TRT was legal, doctors would give people all kinds of substances. The mixture of different doping substances could make a person suffer from harrowing side effects that include sleep apnea, which is a dangerous kind of sleeping disorder. Moreover, a person taking excess TRT and other substances could also get skin problems and might develop too much acne, prostate cancer, and even organ failure.

“Well, a lot of these doctors are dorks, you know, and they think they’re to be able to take these out, ‘I know what I could do with you’, because they’re just like, ‘Oh, TRTs legal? Great! We’re gonna f***ing bang you up with all these other different things,” Rogan further stated.
In addition to Joe Rogan holding doctors responsible, Brendan Schaub added that the doctors would never consult the sporting authorities even when they dealt with professional athletes. “They don’t get the commissions and all that that you’re dealing with high-level sports,” the former UFC fighter added.

Although HGH and TRT are banned now, many athletes are still using other banned substances. Most recently, Joilton Lutterbach was removed from the UFC Saudi Arabia card for testing positive in a drug test. He admitted to it, claiming he had juiced a few months earlier since he never expected to get signed to the UFC.
