If there’s anyone who believes Tom Aspinall could end Jon Jones‘ dominance in the UFC, it’s Michael Bisping. ‘The Count’ once claimed, “I don’t think he [Jones] can hold a candle to Tom.” But guess what? The former 185lbs champ seems to have had a change of heart or mind. Why? It’s because he changed his tune on the possible outcome of a hypothetical fight between Jones and Aspinall.

Given his tremendous performances, Michael Bisping, at first glance, appears to claim that Tom Aspinall is nothing less than his former rival, Georges St-Pierre, who was an all-round fighter. But looking at what Jones has been able to do at such a late stage in his career, ‘The Count’ believes there’s a chance that maybe the undisputed champion will prove all naysayers wrong and add another ruby to his resume.

“I’ve always said he’s [Tom] like a heavyweight George St-Pierre. I think it’s a problem for Jon Jones. But if there’s anyone who can prove me wrong, it’s Jon Jones,” the UFC Hall of Famer told Submission Radio. Moreover, Bisping also pointed out what Jon Jones did to Stipe Miocic. Despite being over 40, there’s no doubt how much of a legend the part-time firefighter was as a heavyweight.

Looking at what happened in Jones’s last outing, the UK’s first UFC champ seems to be worried and unsure about how his fellow countryman would fare against the consensus greatest of all time. “People forget about Jones and what he did, and then, he becomes the champion and then, yeah, he beat Stipe… he looked bloody good beating him. So the point I’m making is, I said, ‘Tom beats him’, but I don’t know. The closer the fight gets, if it happens, I’m getting a little more concerned for Tom,” Bisping added.

Jon Jones wants to fight the “American healthcare system”

Understandably, Jon Jones is at an advantageous position and what he wants is probably the way UFC is going to go. But when he recently spoke about his next fight, it wasn’t against any UFC fighter, and certainly not Tom Aspinall. In fact, it’s against the healthcare system of the United States and the heavyweight champion is calling for a change in the system.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Tom Aspinall really dethrone Jon Jones, or is Bisping's faith misplaced?

“This next fight for me is a personal one, but it’s not just for me. It’s for every American who has ever been bullied, robbed, or deceived. My next opponent would be the American healthcare system. I’ll be joining ‘Power to the Patients’ to take on hospitals, PBMs, and insurance companies that refuse to show us their prices so that they can overcharge us while making enormous profits,” Jon Jones tweeted in a recent X post.

While Jon Jones seems to be on a mission for social change, fans are certainly not happy with the tease. But when will he fight Tom Aspinall? Well, that’s a question that only Dana White can answer. But what do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
