Dana White's emotional moment with fans—Is this the true spirit of UFC?

Dana White is basking in the success of UFC 306, and it’s not hard to see why. The event held at ‘The Sphere’ in Las Vegas served up a spectacle never seen before in the world of combat sports. The result? It ended up shattering the long-standing live gate record for the promotion which was held by UFC 205.

As such, the UFC boss took to social media to express his gratitude for the overwhelming support and love the event received, especially from the Mexican community. It appears that his “love letter to Mexico” has hit all the right notes with the fandom!

In a recent post shared on his Instagram account, UFC CEO Dana White shared, “I have been getting texts nonstop since Saturday and people walking up to me in the street saying amazing things about #NocheUFC. Today a family from Mexico approached me at the Airport and literally made my day with all the things they said about them flying here to see the show.”

Their heartfelt words left an impression on White, making his day. But the praise didn’t stop there. One fan texted UFC’s head of production, Craig Borsari, which the UFC head honcho also highlighted on his social media account.

The post read, “Can’t stop thinking about Noche UFC. It was very meaningful to me because there are not many instances when the Mexican culture and people are paid tribute and portrayed in such an elevated and respectful way. It was a beautifully executed production of sport, art, entertainment, and education that I have never seen done anywhere, ever.”

Have an interesting take?

If that sounds incredible, there’s more! The UFC 306 or ‘Riyadh Season Noche UFC’ event also shattered the previous live gate record by bringing in a whopping $22 million! As mentioned above, the record before this event was held by UFC 205, which took place in 2016 and brought in $17,700,000.

But with such a successful outing, could the fans be treated to another trip to ‘The Sphere’ by the promotion? According to the boss, that’s highly unlikely due to one particular reason!

White confirms return to ‘The Sphere’ unlikely due to contract with MGM

UFC 306 has gone down in history as the highest-grossing UFC event ever making it a financial home run for the promotion. With those kinds of profits, you’d think the UFC would be eager to return to the high-tech venue. But UFC CEO Dana White has other plans.

Speaking at the post-fight press conference, White shared that ‘The Sphere’ is no longer in the cards for the future as he shared that, “No, I’m under contract with MGM. I told you guys leading up to this, the way that this whole thing played out, tonight was meant to happen. It happened, we did it, we killed it … I have literally been getting blown up by everybody about this event.”

So, while UFC 306 may have broken records, it seems that The Sphere was destined to be a one-time stage for the UFC. But with reports of Conor McGregor returning to action in 2025 and the possibility for another record-breaking event lingering, do you think we’ll see another event at ‘The Sphere’?
