There was a time when Chael ‘The Voice’ Sonnen used to be ‘The American Gangsta’. With a career record of 29 wins and 14 losses, Sonnen was a force to reckon with and never backed down from a good fight. The fact that he was once the top contender for both the light heavyweight and middleweight categories tells us a lot about his fighting prowess. He was not only a good fighter but was even better at trash-talking. These skills combined to make him one of the greatest fighters the MMA has ever had. In a recent YouTube video, however, he recounted a story about the softer side of people behind the tough man’s game. In the video, he talked about how he once wanted to fight Daniel Cormier; but was stopped by his graphics designer.

Recounting the beautiful story of the realization from old times, Sonnen Said, “I was picking a fight. I wanted it with Daniel Cormier. So I had taken a bump. I lost a match. Daniel was red hot, and he was coming up.“
Chael Sonnen wanted a dance with Daniel Cormier
Going further about what led to the possibility of his fight against DC who is now a commentator with the UFC, Sonnen told his fans, “Daniel’s opponent falls through which I believe was supposed to be Rashad Evans, remove Rashad, Daniel doesn’t have a dance partner boom Chael’s gonna step in like the hero that he is and save the day and Ross wouldn’t make the poster.”
Daniel Cormier admitted that he was coming from a loss and Daniel Cormier was in a good form. He further explained why his graphics guy wasn’t ready to do a poster for his fight against Cormier. He said, “I had to follow up with him and then this happens again. I have to follow up again and he finally levels with me and he says Chael I’m not gonna do it. I don’t want to see you fight Daniel Cormier. “
He added, “I didn’t think that it would ever run out, and he was letting me know Daniel will hurt you. I don’t want to see you get hurt and I’m not going to participate and I’m not going to make the poster.”

In his own admission, Chael Sonnen revealed he thought people always wanted to see him fight but was made to realize that it wasn’t a “rinse and repeat” thing for his crew. His graphics guy knew that Cormier would come out on top at the end of the fight and didn’t want Sonnen to be hurt.
UFC fighters are obviously fearless Bravehearts who embrace pain with a smile. Their family members and friends, however, don’t necessarily feel the same. It’s a hard thing to see a loved one being pummeled or hurt in a cage; despite knowing that it’s a sport.
