In a short but moving piece written in Time, Hollywood star and bodybuilding legend Arnold Schwarzenegger paid homage to the Irishman’s success.

McGregor used his fists and his mouth to make millions in the UFC. Schwarzenegger praised McGregor for his achievements and spared a few words for ‘Mystic Mac’s’ captivating aura.

In the article, Schwarzenegger said that Conor McGregor is more than an athlete, a fighter, and a champion. In addition to that, he mentioned McGregor is the UFC’s first simultaneous two-division champion. Also, the former California governor observed that McGregor “is also the rare personality who has become bigger than his sport.”

Schwarzenegger described McGregor as someone who cannot be boxed into one category. The Terminator star then mentioned that whatever we saw of McGregor only scratched the surface of his personality. He was simply in awe of the energy and charisma that the ‘Notorious’ exuded.

Commenting on McGregor’s personality, Schwarzenegger wrote:

“The Dublin native is razor-sharp, disciplined and charismatic. His energy is absolutely contagious, to the point where you almost start shouting in an Irish accent after 30 seconds of hearing that world-famous mouth.”

Schwarzenegger then also commented on the Irishman’s appetite for success. He further mentioned that championship belts alone would not quench the UFC star’s thirst for glory. Schwarzenegger praised his drive saying that “there are no breaks that can stop his engine.”

McGregor suffered a broken leg in his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021. McGregor underwent surgery and had a titanium rod inserted in his left leg. In an Instagram video post-surgery, the ‘Notorious’ updated his fans on his health.

In the video, the Irishman was moving around the streets on a scooter and seemed to be in good spirits. He then likened himself to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character in the Terminator movies. Furthermore, he revealed that he had the same physical therapist who worked with Schwarzenegger.
