The UFC star TJ Dillashaw again finds himself in troubled water. The former bantamweight champion failed to regain the title at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Arena. Not only did the wrestler dislocate his shoulder early in the fight, but the American fighter also revealed that he fought with a pre-existing injury. However, this decision was not communicated to the authorities. As result, UFC president Dana White called it a “problem.”

Likewise, the former UFC champion received a lot of flakes from fans and analysts. Dillashaw, in a recent interview with MMA Hour, broke the silence over the recent criticism.
What did TJ Dillashaw say about his shoulder?
Dillashaw, besides discussing his performance against Aljamain Sterling, also recalled his first injury and why he took the fight. The 36-year-old fighter told Ariel Helwani that he got his shoulder injured six weeks before the fight. But Dillashaw remained hopeful of the result.

Further, the wrestler apologized for holding up the weight class. However, Dillashaw admitted that the criticism was tough to swallow.
On being quizzed about giving the UFC authorities a heads-up, the 17-5 record holder replied that he wasn’t sure whether the authorities would pull him off the fight.
Following this, Dillashaw asserted that he had a small camp and wanted to bring in new guys that would help him in wrestling. But the California-born fighter was reluctant to bring them.
Hence, he said, “Because I didn’t want the word spreading what was going on with my shoulder. I wanted no one [to know]…because I didn’t want to get pulled from the fight.”

Later on, the ‘Treigning Lab’ representative added, “And have it slip into the cracks and somehow his [Aljamain Sterling] camp finding out about it…” Therefore, the fighter trash-talked about Sterling being boring and only wrestling, as he wanted to take the fight on his feet.
Dana White and his previous comments
White, in the UFC 280 post-fight press conference, revealed that he was not aware of TJ Dillashaw’s injury. He said, “Yeah, I had no idea. That’s a problem.”
