The UFC Fight Night: Hermansson vs Vettori unquestionably lived up to its hype on Saturday. Post the event, UFC supremo Dana White, as usual, interacted with the media. He shed some light on the Vegas 16 main event, Yoel Romero leaving the UFC, and fighter cuts that’ll happen by next year.
White on Romero's release: "We're going to go through some serious cuts here at the end of the year… And Yoel has lost 4 of his last 5, he's 44 years old and our roster is very inflated right now"
White says they're going to be cutting roughly 60 fighters in the coming weeks.

Talking about Yoel Romero leaving the promotion, “Yoel has lost 4 of his last 5 (fights), he’s 44 years old and our roster is very inflated right now,” said White.
The UFC President mentioned some serious cuts coming up in the next few months. To allot a number, he said that there are going to be around 60 fighter cuts by the first half of 2021. Of late, the UFC released its veteran, Anderson Silva too, after his loss to Uriah Hall.
The UFC and President Dana White are extremely keen on retaining young, dynamic, and active fighters in the promotion rather than filling up the divisions with fighters having inactive streaks. There might be many more big names presumed to get chopped from the promotion for maintaining a sluggish run.

Yoel Romero debuted with the UFC in 2013. ‘The Soldier of God’ climbed the middleweight stairs with 8 wins straight since his debut fight. In no time, Romero was every UFC fan’s favorite and became a treat to watch. He had a perfect 185-pound frame who landed spinning elbows and flying knees to create magic inside the octagon.

Romero exhibits a 13-5 record in his pro-MMA career. He probably was the most loved UFC fighter who never won a title. ‘The Soldier of God’ had many memorable bouts inside the UFC octagon but his battle against Whittaker is still considered as the finest in the 185-pounds. Though Romero ended up on the losing side in both these fights, he was highly regarded for putting up a show.
The past couple of years have been little favorable for Romero. He lost 3 fights straight and his recent loss came against the middleweight king Israel Adesanya. Romero is 44 years old and was desperately looking for a win in the roster since 2018.
‘The Soldier of God’ had a career to look upon. Considering his current age and despairing run, ‘The Soldier of God’ should palpably give a thought on his retirement.
