11 Years After His Loss to Michael Johnson, Tony Ferguson Reveals He Didn’t Know “How to Check a Kick or Parry”

The former interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson is currently experiencing a slump in his UFC career. The 37-year-old fighter has been on a five-fight losing streak since his defeat to Justin Gaethje in 2020, which ended his remarkable 12 consecutive wins and a seven-year unbeaten run in the promotion. Nevertheless, ‘El Cucuy’ remains resolute and is committed to sharpening his skills and continuing his fight game journey.

Despite his perseverance, Ferguson recently received snide criticism from his former opponent Michael Johnson, who handed Ferguson his first UFC loss in 2012. Johnson took to social media to mock Tony Ferguson‘s boxing skills, but the Mexican hit back, reminding his rival of their previous battle and stating that he put up a good fight despite not being in top form.

Michael Johnson recently took a jab at his former foe Tony Ferguson after the latter posted a video of himself demonstrating his boxing skills. Johnson, unimpressed with the video, made a snide remark about Ferguson’s technique.

However, when the news of Johnson’s criticism reached Tony Ferguson, the Mexican fighter wasted no time in responding. Ferguson gave ‘The Menace’ a recount of how he put up a solid fight against him with only one arm working well.

Johnson has put out an offer to Tony Ferguson to give fans what they want – a second round in the octagon.

Michael Johnson gives Ferguson a “chance” at redemption

Michael Johnson is eager to offer Tony Ferguson a chance to settle an old score and avenge his first UFC loss. ‘The Menace’ believes that after nearly 11 years, fans would love to see both fighters battle it out in the octagon once again. In a generous move, Johnson has put forward a rematch offer to ‘El Cucuy’ without any fuss about the weight category, as he is open to whatever works best for them.
