The unbeatable has been beaten at UFC 313, as Alex Pereira lost his light heavyweight title after more than a year-long reign. Magomed Ankalaev did what he promised and won the belt in a competitive fight at the T-Mobile Arena. Meanwhile, some people, including former UFC fighter Derek Brunson, seem to believe that Pereira might have been cursed prior to his unsuccessful title defense.
Remember the ‘Drake Curse’ when people thought whomever the Canadian rapper puts his money on goes on to lose? It seems like the MMA community has a similar notion about Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who caught up with Alex Pereira before and after his loss to Magomed Ankalaev. ‘Poatan’ did not seem too upset with his loss as he’d greet the billionaire with a “chama,” with Zuckerberg responding with, “Yeah.”
Derek Brunson, on the other hand, posted a video where he mentioned Zuckerberg’s association with other UFC fighters like Israel Adesanya and Alexander Volkanovski, who are on a losing streak. Did this happen because of the billionaire’s curse? Well, Brunson seems to believe so. “It’s given Drake vibes !!! Zuck is him,” the former UFC fighter stated on Instagram.

Mark Zuckerberg has trained with Alex Pereira in the past when the Brazilian was on a winning run. So it may not necessarily be a curse for ‘Poatan’ to have met the tech mogul. Meanwhile, when the duo met up at UFC 313, the conversation between them wasn’t audible and it remains to be seen what advice the Meta CEO gave the former champion.

Alex Pereira will be ready to fight soon
The consensus in the MMA community is that Alex Pereira could get his rematch for the title, given that he had been a very dominant champion for more than a year. Guess what? That’s exactly what the former champion wants, and it seems like they could get the nod from Dana White on that front. Pereira opened up on his loss after UFC 313, promising a better and more prepared version of himself when he steps inside the Octagon with Ankalaev.

“Gonna make some adjustments for the rematch, and I’ll be back much better. You can count on it. Never give up on your dreams. Chama,” said Alex Pereira on Instagram. During the Octagon interview, he also mentioned that he’s not going to take a break for more than a couple of days and then it’s back to the gym for him, as he claims that he didn’t suffer any damage during the Ankalaev fight.
